Job Overview
The System Engineer V (SSE) will support the Chugach Technical Program Manager the US Coast Guard team. The incumbent will provide day-to-day engineering support to NIWC. The position requires an experienced Specialist to support the project. Travel up 25% CONUS/OCONUS. Work Model: Onsite
Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
- Serves as technical lead on large, complex projects
- Must have a detail understanding of US Navy or USCG Command and Control (C2) systems.
- Responsible for leading all software related activities in the Laboratory and USCG Assets
- Lead the Software installations of USCG Command and Control (C2) System's on US Coast Guard Assets and shore sites
- Provide troubleshooting support for software issues seen in the fleet and laboratories
- Provide recommendations to leadership for software path forward and correction of issues.
- Maintain the software configuration of Laboratory and for USCG Asset
- Support all test events related to the USCG C2 Systems
- Update installation instructions for all software builds and provide feedback to stakeholders
- Provide remote and fly-away support for USCG Assets as needed
- Supports the creation and testing of Onsite Configuration Requests (OCR)
- Evaluate new software options and determine impact to USCG systems
- Reviews Engineering Change Proposal documentation for software changes to the current and future software baselines
- Review Cyber Task Orders (CTO) to determine impact to system
- Lead the Software related meetings
- Review technical specifications and related documents to ensure technical accuracy and applicability.
- Experience with working with various Operating Systems to include RHEL, Windows, VMWare
- Basic understanding of computer networking
- Must be able to lead a team and deconflict issues
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex network security issues.
Job Requirements
Mandatory:
- BS in Engineering or Computer Science Field.
- U.S. citizen.
- Active DOD Secret security clearance.
- Fifteen (15) years of experience of installing and troubleshooting software for Military Electronics systems.
- Experience with the Sea Commander System.
- Willing to travel up to 25% CONUS/OCONUS.
- Must have a valid driver's license and reliable.
- Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check and drug test.
