DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will be responsible for the upkeep of State Forest facilities, equipment, and tools, which includes operating specialized machinery and vehicles. When not engaged in equipment operation, you will perform manual labor and may serve as a lead worker, guiding other staff in their tasks. Your duties will encompass cleaning, maintaining, painting, and repairing various State Forest facilities, as well as ensuring that all necessary tools and equipment are in good working order. You will also conduct minor repairs and preventive maintenance on equipment and assist automotive mechanics as needed. Additionally, you will perform safety checks and inspections of tools and equipment before use, operate machinery to maintain road surfaces, and support various State Forest operations, including snowmobile trail grooming, snow removal, facility security, and wildlife management activities such as planting and pruning, as assigned. - This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits.
- The season runs from approximately March 2025 until November 2025 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment March 2026.
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Tuesday - Thursday, 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Conditions of Employment:
- This position will require possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.
Other Requirements:
