POSITION SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:

Our Muskegon Site is seeking a Plant Manager to lead, own, and direct all production activities at the site while reporting to the Site Manager.

The Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing solid manufacturing processes, maintaining production equipment, delivering on the Annual Operating Plan (AOP/Budget) for the plant, to ensure safe production activities while keeping production records for an on-time production of quality products that meet or exceed customers' expectations.

Additionally, the Plant Manager will drive continuous improvement and will handle various plant management tasks as needed to optimize performance.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership to direct/indirect reports, make sound decisions to drive site success in accordance with the site collective bargaining agreement, foster team effectiveness, and ensure timely results. It also requires a change agent, capable of driving plant improvement through contemporary manufacturing systems, such as lean, 5-S, quality/ISO, six-sigma, and employee engagement programs that are built on a strong team that can execute and deliver results.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:



  • As an active team member of the site leadership team, plans, organizes, and directs the functioning of the manufacturing plant to meet site goals (safety, quality, productivity, service, efficiency) while delivering on the Annual Operating Plan (AOP/Budget) for the plant.
  • Responsible for compliance with all safety and environmental rules and regulations affecting the plant.
  • Maintains and consults with other professional staff to assure that regulatory and statutory obligations are met.
  • Responsible for determining hourly production staff requirements necessary to meet planned manufacturing level and advises Site Leadership Team of needs.
  • Work directly with the Union leadership to assure compliance with the current CBA and resolution of labor grievances.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely production records and reports.
  • Responsible for the development of production, warehouse, and maintenance supervisory staff, including facilitating regular plant supervisor meetings to give them guidance and direction
  • Ensures that all supervisors are properly trained in all plant functions, safety rules, and pertinent regulatory procedures.
  • Conducts and reports labor and machine study and leads efforts with controller to ensure that realistic labor and manufacturing costs are provided for accurate determination of costs of products and budgeting purposes.
  • Coordinates equipment downtime and repairs and submits necessary information pertaining to the repair.
  • Ensure that the inventory of all products and operating supplies is controlled.
  • Develops, maintains, documents and ensures the accurate execution of all production, warehouse, and maintenance standard operating procedures and work instructions to safely and efficiently make a quality product.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and healthy work environment by enforcing HSE initiatives and housekeeping practices.
  • Oversee both direct and indirect teams through performance management and mentoring.
  • Redirect resources as required to address unexpected changes in production.


REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:



  • A bachelor's degree in business management, engineering, or a related field, with 5+ years of management experience in a manufacturing environment, or over 10 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Required experience in manufacturing; experience in the chemical industry is preferred.
  • Experience working within a union environment dealing with contract administration and labor grievances.
  • Must be metrics/data-driven and have experience with establishing and maintaining performance-based metrics to achieve objectives, including financial and P&L analysis.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring abilities, with a capacity to hold the team accountable.
  • Conflict resolution, coaching and team development experience.
  • Experience driving an effective rewards and recognition culture.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across supporting and technical departments.
  • Experience with leading and sustaining successful projects using lean manufacturing concepts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; SAP skills are a plus.


PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:



  • Experience and knowledge in Environment, Health and Safety within a chemical manufacturing environment.


POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: Plant is 345,000+ square feet and operates 24/7/365. Hours of work are 8am to 5pm but must have flexibility with schedule.
