Job Title: EHS Specialist -III
Location: West Point, PA Duration: 5 Months with possibility of extension. 30 hours per week. Work can be split with on-site utilized for conducting assessments and off-site for compiling data and reports. Qualifications: Hybrid position No OT , up to 30 work hours a week BA degree in Engineering, Science, related field Certification as a Professional Ergonomist required Ergonomist - An Ergonomist also known as a human factors specialist, is a professional who studies and designs systems, equipment and workplaces to optimize human well-being, performance, comfort and safety * Will the worker(s) handle negotiables (i.e., cash)? no * Will the worker travel (domestic or international), - No * Will the worker be the final decision maker, no * Will the worker be working with chemicals/machinery, no * Will the worker need to wear PPE yes, GMP clothing, safety glasses, safety shoes, lab coat are all possible * Will the worker be lifting/climbing, no * Will the worker be working in a non-office environment (i.e., lab, warehouse, etc) will visit non office environments to document work assessments Responsibilities: Ergonomic evaluations and combines a scientific and functional approach to developing solutions. Ergonomic analysis requires the use of a variety of measurement "tools": Digital video/picture, weights and measures, and employee/supervisor surveys. Ergonomic services are to be provided by a Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE) or Ergonomic Expert overseen by CPE. Ergonomic Risk Assessment (ERA) Expert will identify ergonomic risk factors present in the work environment, as well as identify potential root causes and development of recommendations/ controls that will reduce the ergonomic risk. Controls may include engineering, administrative, and/or behavioral/work practice controls that will also improve performance, productivity, and quality. These are highly visible documents showing correct/incorrect scenarios as well as possible abatements/ controls. Expert is to utilize VelocityEHS Industrial Ergonomic Software for the ERA's. Ergonomic Risk Mapping (ERM) Expert is to provide an at-a-glance status regarding where risks lie. This mapping allow the facility, operations, and maintenance teams a visual representation of where risk resides through a birds-eye view. Using either an aerial photo or 2D outline of your building, the color-coded map should show locations of risk. Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) Expert will provide a PDA. The PDA will provide an objective measure of the peak physical demands of identified job positions while establishing and quantifying the essential functions critical to successful job performance. Functional Job Description (FJD) The expert is to provide Functional Job Descriptions. FJDs outline the manual material handling aspects, body positions, and movements necessary to perform the physical requirements of the job. The FJD is based off the PDA and often used by Human Resources for hiring. Physical demands data will be added into existing job descriptions, as a separate attached document.
