The Director of Giving Programs is responsible for managing and overseeing all giving programs that support the UC Davis Health Science Development and Alumni Relations (HSDA) fundraising goals for the Annual Giving, Grateful Patient, and Employee Giving Programs, as well as Health's Digital Engagement Officer (DXO) role. The Director will work closely with UC Davis Health leadership and department chairs to plan, develop and maintain effective and successful system-wide giving programs. The incumbent will also collaborate with the University Donor Programs and Prospect Management and Research teams to identify and build a pipeline of major gift donors to raise the maximum number of contributions from UC Davis Health's grateful patients, alumni, employees, students and friends.
Overall job responsibilities include managing the development, implementation and operation of all UC Davis Health giving programs and operations. This includes developing strategic plans for donor acquisition, donor renewal and upgrades (including grateful patients, annual donors, alumni and employee donors); implementing annual giving strategies and lead annual donor strategies and best practices; analyzing and communicating results. Identify and implement opportunities to improve program performance. Manage all program budgets, vendor communications, and provide departmental support for the UC Davis Health units. They must work with each vendor to analyze donor response rates, trends, and segmentation models.
The incumbent is expected to manage ongoing direct mail, phone and digital campaigns, and all production activities. The Director of Giving Programs must have a proven track record of success in managing annual giving/fundraising programs, preferably in an academic medical center environment.
The incumbent will manage four FTEs, including the Health DXO, which is responsible for specific fundraising metrics.

Minimum Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
- 5 years of fundraising experience
- Experience conceptualizing, writing, producing and evaluating messaging while executing successful direct mail, electronic mail and phone solicitations with market segmentations analysis and strategy formula.
- Extensive experience in the fundraising field and fundraising techniques.
- Demonstrated results-oriented experience in managing an annual fund/fundraising program.
- Demonstrated experience operating as a significant pan of a pipeline team.
- Demonstrated experience in developing annual fund strategies and business revenue recommendations for approval by both management and internal client leadership.
- * Demonstrated ability to strategically plan and independently make decision related to annual giving programs, while abiding by governing gift policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated skill in prospect acquisition. Proficient with the development and applications of client/prospect service delivery models in a decentralized campus fundraising environment.
- Demonstrated skill and experience to independently plan, coordinate and manage multiple targeted solicitations initiatives with the goals and strategies to acquire, retain and upgrade donors.
- Skills to compile and assimilate large/complex data sources and apply relevant information according to client expectations in various usable formats
- Ability to analyze data from a wide variety of sources and present statistical information in a coherent and appropriate format
- Excellent analytical skills to anticipate/identify issues; compare data to multi-source sets of information to draw conclusions, develop goals/plans for resolution, and implementation
- Ability to translate plans into action, meet objectives, and prepare reports for results
- Strong leadership, managerial, organizational and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated success in the application and implementation of direct-marketing practices in an academic medical center/higher education/non-profit environment preferred.
- Demonstrated success in managing a phone solicitation program, including training and managing phone programs specifically targeted for grateful patients. This includes extensive knowledge of HIPAA laws and industry best practices
- Demonstrated experience in negotiating various on-campus agreement (MOUs and vendor contracts)
- Demonstrated ease with using spreadsheets and large databases - Advancement Information System (AIS) preferred.

Health Sciences Development and Alumni Relations (HSDA) is charged with building philanthropic support for UC Davis Health's patient care, research and education programs.
The HSDA leadership team leads a staff of 50+ professionals and provides leadership, coordination, and support services to help the university meet its mission, strengthens Health's philanthropic support and focuses efforts on the university's highest priorities and initiatives.
The Giving Programs team oversees the comprehensive multi-channel annual giving efforts of the organization, including direct mail, email, social media, Give Day and all crowdfunding campaigns.
