RBHS) .
The Center for Advanced Human Brain Imaging Research (
CAHBIR) at Rutgers University is seeking a research
MRI technologist to perform imaging procedures for research studies.
CAHBIR is a new research-dedicated neuroimaging center that focuses on cognitive and clinical neuroscience research. The candidate will oversee running study procedures and ensuring that all safety procedures are followed. They will also provide oversight for the training of noncertified personnel who are using the scanner. We are specifically looking for individuals who are capable of working a with a wide array of participants, including children, individuals with psychiatric disorders, and elderly individuals with neurological disorders. The successful candidate must be capable of working well with a team and can communicate clearly with a diverse group of researchers who vary in their level of experience in the MR environment.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Perform all imaging procedures according to IRB approved protocols.
- Evaluate study subject's history for compatibility with the imaging system and technique.
- Screen scans for possible incidental findings.
- Perform routine clinical research protocols, including (but not limited to) administering IV contrast agents and pregnancy screening tests.
- Maintain expert knowledge of running and setting up 3T protocols.
- Assist researchers in developing scanning protocols.
- Perform visual maintenance checks on all equipment used and report all malfunctions to appropriate personnel and contact and coordinate with service providers when necessary.
- Performs quality assurance procedures.
- Ensure continued skills necessary to operate and maintain the scanner, including proper procedures for shutdown of the system when necessary, safely, and effectively.
- Provide leadership and training to researchers about scanner safety procedures and scan operation.
- Maintain scanning logs.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Must be a graduate of an approved Radiology Technology Program and an active registered technologist with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT).
- A minimum of four (4) years of experience as a radiology technologist.

Certifications/Licenses |
- Must have a NJ State license.
- Must maintain valid certification by the American Heart Association in Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR. Must be certified in the service to which the candidate is applying: MRI ; Cat Scan; Angiography; Mammography; Ultrasound; General Radiography.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- Excellent knowledge of radiography and, RIS and PACS.
- Annual fit testing is required.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, tact and diplomacy.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with good verbal and written English skills.
- Must maintain a professional demeanor and perform duties effectively in stressful/emergency situations.
- Must be able to work independently and complete assignment with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Previous clinical research experience with a focus on neuroimaging.
- Experience with Siemens scanners.
- Capable of a flexible work schedule.
