Job Summary
The purpose of this position is the internal management and control of the parking and valet services unit within the Parking and Transportation Services department. This includes supervision of Parking Representatives (Valet), Parking Representatives-Lead (valet lead), Senior Parking Representatives (enforcement), Parking Assistants (kiosk/lot operations), and Sr. Auto Equipment Operators. Facilitates safe parking and valet operations for all vehicles operating on the UCDH grounds by providing and maintaining safe equipment and proficient staff. The incumbent plans and implements special parking arrangements/events, ensuring signage, structure maintenance, lot equipment usage, including enforcement of parking regulations, plans and prepares budgets, surveys and reports. #CA-SB Apply By Date 5/14/2025 by 11:59pm Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
- Required to hold a valid California driver's license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies/procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program
- Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training in a complex operations unit.
- 3+ years management or supervisory experience in the service industry.
- Leadership skills and/or supervisory experience to lead, monitor motivate, train and evaluate staff.
- Knowledge of applicable California Vehicle Code regulations.
- Knowledge of proper cash handling, collection and deposit practices.
- Analytical and decision skills to review information, draw conclusions, develop and evaluate alternatives/solutions.
- Skills to analyze options and solve problems independently on assigned projects while utilizing available resources to efficiently complete work assigned.
- Organizational and time management skills to prioritize workload and meet deadlines, develop and carry out project assignments, in an efficient and timely manner and to provide accurate and sufficient documentation of activities.
- Interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to clearly and efficiently interact with a diverse group of individuals at all levels within the organization to secure and/or promote information to clarify situations, resolve problems, and to foster and promote the goals of the organization.
- Ability to coordinate independently a variety of tasks and functions; to work around frequent interruptions; to organize workload and set ever-changing priorities; to anticipate and provide for schedule changes; to work with deadlines, realigning priorities as necessary.
- Knowledge and experience with but not limited to: Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, and databases. Experience in training staff in carrying out proper valet parking procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Parking Professional (CPP)
- Certified Administrator of Public Parking (CAPP)
- 2 years' direct supervisory experience within a high-volume valet hospital environment
- One year supervising multiple operational valet units within a hospital environment.
- Experience supervising employees in a collective bargaining.
- Experience with project consulting and familiarity with analysis and decision-making processes in higher education environments.
- Experience in parking/events, public administration, mobility transportation, and/or broad knowledge of UC parking policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of data security and privacy requirements, including FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act), the California Information Practices Act and PCI Compliance.

Ensures fleet vehicles are well-maintained, safe, and environmentally compliant, incorporating sustainable practices. * Transportation Services: Operates shuttle services that facilitate connections between various medical center facilities and nearby offsite locations, enhancing accessibility and convenience for patients and visitors. Implements programs and promoting eco-friendly practices, the department encourages the use of public transit, biking, and carpooling to reduce the carbon footprint and alleviate parking congestion. * Technology Integration: Leverages advanced technologies to enhance customer experience, including mobile applications for real-time parking availability and shuttle tracking. Incorporates digital payment systems for seamless transactions to improve user experience and efficiency. * Safety and Security: Prioritizes the safety and security of all users in parking and transportation areas through surveillance, regular security patrolling, and well-lit facilities. * Sustainability Initiatives: Promotes initiatives aimed at reducing the carbon footprint through the Green Commuter programs, electric vehicle adoption, alternative fuel options, and sustainable transport programs.
