Purpose of Position
The Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs, Instructional Excellence, and Online Programs provides management and leadership in faculty and instructional excellence across the university. The Vice Provost oversees a variety of faculty services and provides essential support to the provost on issues related to faculty.

As a member of the Provost's Leadership Team and the Academic Affairs Council, the Vice Provost will work to enhance the academic mission of the university, improve academic quality across all modalities, and enhance the skills of faculty, staff, and students in Academic and Student Affairs.
Primary Responsibilities

  • Advancing innovative academic strategies
  • Coordinating with colleges, departments, faculty, and online partners to ensure academic quality and curriculum vitality for credit and noncredit across all modalities
  • Coordinate our efforts around artificial intelligence in teaching, learning, and student success
  • Collaborate with other relevant university stakeholders to support the integration of artificial intelligence in our student support systems and services
  • Oversight of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Innovation
  • Oversight of online programs
  • Coordinating the reappointment, promotion, and tenure process
  • Coordination of annual workload and performance review
  • Orienting new faculty and new administrators at NKU
  • Providing continuing professional development to faculty and Academic Affairs administrators, including mentoring and leadership development
  • Maintaining policies associated with hiring and retention of faculty
  • Managing faculty data, reports, and trends
  • Coordinating the annual academic affairs faculty and staff honors and awards program
  • Serving as the primary university liaison for our on online program management (OPM) partner (Risepoint)


Duties also include oversight of faculty and staff fellows within Academic Affairs, managing of Academic and Student Affairs policies and committees, working with the Faculty Senate and Council of Chairs on policies and initiatives, and management of strategic priorities and assessment for the division. The Vice Provost will may also lead key university initiatives as assigned by the provost.
Qualifications
The qualified candidate will possess a terminal degree and be tenured in one of our colleges. The ideal candidate will understand broad issues in higher education; will demonstrate commitment to NKU's mission, vision, and strategic plan; and must balance strong organizational skills to manage academic matters in a collaborative and confidential manner.
