Position Summary: Responsible for the manufacturing, maintenance, and repair of precision tools, molds, and dies used in the production process. This role requires a combination of technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work with a variety of tools and machinery.

Primary/Essential Responsibilities:



  • Construct, modify, and repair precision tools, molds, and dies according to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Operate a variety of machinery, such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and CNC machines, to shape and finish tools and components.
  • Ensure that all manufactured tools meet quality standards and specifications through careful inspection and measurement.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with tools, molds, or dies to maintain efficient production processes.
  • Work closely with engineers, designers, and other team members to understand project requirements and make adjustments as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of tool designs, modifications, and repairs. Document any changes made to tools for future reference.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. Identify and address potential safety hazards
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Conserve resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results
  • Contribute to team effort by training others in performance of machinist tasks as needed
  • Inspect all work prior to passing it on to the next operation
  • Document actions by completing production and quality forms
  • Communicate effectively with others at various levels of the organization.



Required Qualifications:



  • Experience in using various hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and machinery such as lathes and milling machines.
  • High level of precision and attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems related to toolmaking and manufacturing processes.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new tools, technologies, and manufacturing processes.


  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • High School diploma, GED or combination of work experience and skill development


  • Must be able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions in English.



Preferred Qualifications:



  • 3 or more years in precision machining
  • Knowledge of shut-off surfaces versus molding surfaces
  • Experience with machining components part of larger assemblies and an understanding of how each component fits
  • Basic polishing and surface finishing experience
  • Operation and understanding of EDM machines

  • Lift up to 75 pounds on an occasional basis floor to waist with assistance
  • Lift up to 40 pounds on a frequent basis floor to waist
  • Carry up to 40 pounds on an occasional basis up to 25 feet

  • Push/Pull more than 40 pounds on an occasional basis with assistance
