Moog Military Aircraft has an immediate opening for a Lean Continuous Improvement (OPEX) Manager to lead and execute operational excellence initiatives throughout our operations and play a strategic role in driving lean transformation, 80/20 thinking, process improvement, and building organizational capability. This position requires a strong background in continuous improvement methodologies, people leadership, and cross-functional influence. Reporting to the Site Director of Quality and Business Excellence, you will have a 9/80 schedule option and work onsite in Torrance, CA.

As a Lean Continuous Improvement (OPEX) Manager, you will:

  • Lead the planning and execution of Continuous Improvement (CI) and Operational Excellence (OPEX) initiatives in alignment with site strategy.

  • Track and monitor effectiveness of key business metrics; recommend and implement changes as needed to ensure business objectives are met.

  • Drive a lean manufacturing culture through the deployment of tools such as value stream mapping, 5S, standard work, visual management, and Kaizen events.

  • Champion the application of 80/20 business strategy, using data to identify and focus on high impact priorities and simplify the business.

  • Leverage 80/20 principles to optimize product lines and workflows, to drive growth and margin expansion.

  • Support coaching of employees at all levels to develop CI problem-solving skills and ensure sustainability of changes.

  • Build internal CI capability by developing training materials and mentoring team members.

  • Utilize data and performance metrics to identify areas of waste and variation; facilitate structured problem-solving using Lean methodologies.

  • Partner closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain to optimize production and business processes.

  • Monitor, report, and communicate project progress, KPIs, and realized benefits to leadership.

  • Foster a culture of engagement and accountability, related to continuous improvement, throughout the facility.

  • Implement and facilitate recurring Lean Steering Committee Reviews. Develop and maintain vision for the OPEX Team, communicate progress towards goals, build strong partnerships with cross-functional leaders to improve culture of continuous improvement year over year.

To be considered for the role, here's what you'll need to bring with you:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing, Operations Management, Engineering, Industrial/Mechanical Engineering, or related field

  • Minimum 7 years of manufacturing or operations experience, including at least 3 years of working experience in Lean Manufacturing based activities

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience managing direct reports

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree

  • Experience with 80/20 methodology is strongly preferred; willingness and ability to learn and apply 80/20 is required

  • Strong understanding of lean principles and change management.

  • Proven ability to deliver measurable improvements in business performance

  • Strong communication, facilitation, and project management skills

  • Comfortable facilitating meetings with senior leadership

  • Aerospace, defense, or similarly regulated industry experience preferred

Preferred Certifications:

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt

  • Certified Lean Practitioner, Lean Leader, or equivalent

  • Project Management certified

Salary Range Transparency:

Torrance, CA $130,000.00-$175,000.00 Annually

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, employee stock purchase plan, an open paid time off policy, and many region-specific benefits.
