Job Summary

This position is responsible for overseeing achievement of organizational objectives through established department workflows, advance administrative support, research, analysis, and coordination of data collection for efficient and effective reporting. Responsibilities extend to working with managing the accountability and stewardship of human, financial and physical resources, directing discharge services and overseeing system wide solutions for patient flow through the Utilization Management Account.The incumbent in this position oversees reconciliation, fund and distribution, external relationships with vendors, workflows across the organization as well as external facing workflows regarding the Utilization Management Account. This position serves as a liaison between the Clinical Case Management/Social Services and a wide variety of other divisions/departments in the Health System. This position achieves organizational objectives through the coordinated achievements through subordinate staff. Manages the accountability and stewardship of human, financial and other physical resources in compliance with departmental, divisional, and organizational goals and objectives. Oversight to departmental, divisional, and organizational data collection activities as well as development and presentation of various reports; participates in long-term and short-term strategic planning to achieve objectives; operational designee for WEB applications; user support; analysis diagnosis and correction of problems encountered in hardware and computerized applications. This position is responsible for direct supervision of approximately 5.0 FTE ensuring adherence to defined internal control sporting the established departments goals and objectives.

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • At least 5 years of experience of relevant healthcare and business experience with interpreting contract language.
  • Management and/or supervisory experience in an office environment.
  • Ability to meet minimum standards for hospital credentialing and billing standards as a billable provider.
  • Knowledge of regulatory expectation in both Clinical Case Management and Social Services.
  • Strong ability to quickly evaluate complex problems, identify multiple potential solutions, and effectively implement action plans to bring about successful resolutions.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills to prepare and present reports.
  • Ability to convey complex information, instructions, and guidelines in a clear manner.
  • Commitment to high quality customer service and patient satisfaction.
  • Strong ability to work effectively with senior management on operational and business issues.
  • Strong knowledge of all relevant technology, including systems, applications, hardware, processes, and methodology.
  • Self-direction and organizational skills to function in an independent role.

Department Overview

The Clinical Case Management and Social Services Departments have the combined responsibilities of twenty-four-hour hospital-wide Utilization Review, Discharge Planning, TAR, Medicare patient notification letters, initial and concurrent authorizations and hospital-wide Health Care Management. Clinical Case Management's purpose is to reduce hospital costs, monitor length of stay and appropriateness of medical care in the acute setting, ensure reimbursement through timely medical review and/or obtaining authorizations for services rendered, provide discharge planning interventions to assure timely and safe patient discharge; facilitate outpatient referrals and repatriations to referring facilities, assist in the application of special programs when needed, and support the enhancement of care to the patient and family that are experiencing impacts to illness, injury and/or end of life issues.
