Architectural Interior Designer

JOB OVERVIEW:

This position is responsible to provide support for sales team and customers through design consultation, project collaboration, space planning, and dental equipment specifications. Participate in onboarding and training new Equipment Specialists and designers. Collaborate with IDS leadership and focus group on special projects as assigned.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Field & Customer Support

  • Provide support to the Henry Schein Equipment Specialists through designing floor plans per client request

  • Interface with Equipment Specialists, clients, architects, contractors, and other third-party consultants as required

  • Create detailed floor plans that demonstrate a mastery of principles of interior architectural planning (zoning, adjacencies, circulation), accessibility and life safety codes, and common construction practices

  • Generate detailed equipment specification plans to guide in the installation of all dental equipment, ensure functional and accurate installation of dental equipment

  • Participate in onboarding and training new reps, provide ongoing education on updated processes, offerings, resources, and software enhancements

Project Management

  • Manage an ongoing workload of active projects; be ready to shift priorities and respond to the need for expedited turnaround time

  • Utilize department project management system and tracking processes

Collaboration with Design Team, Vendors, & Leadership

  • Collaborate with outside sources to stay current with trends in dental office design and share findings with group; investigate new equipment offerings and requirements

  • Utilize department collaboration tools to stay connected and on task

  • Support on going department initiatives, special projects, and focus groups as required

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Associate degree (minimum) in a focus related to the architectural design field, including interior architecture, architecture, architectural drafting, etc.

  • Mastery of AutoCAD, AutoCAD Architecture, or Revit; experience with 3D modeling programs a plus

  • Strong knowledge base with principles of space planning, accessibility and life safety codes, and common construction practices

  • Strong organizational and project management skills; ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize, adapt to changing conditions, and meet deadlines

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Self-starter with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, resourcefulness

  • Ability to function in a team environment with a positive and professional attitude

  • Ability to work within a fast-paced, highly detailed environment

  • Adherence to company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behavior

MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:

Typically 2 to 4 years of related professional experience.

PREFERRED EDUCATION:

Typically a Bachelor's Degree or global equivalent in related discipline.

TRAVEL / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Travel typically less than 10%. Office environment. No special physical demands required.
