Summary

The Senior Team Lead, Air Freight and Expedited, is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Air Freight and Expedited team. This role ensures shipments are executed efficiently and compliantly, while maintaining high standards of customer service. As a "Player Coach," the Senior Team Lead will actively support the team in execution while also mentoring and guiding team members toward performance excellence and continuous improvement.

Duties and Responsibilities



  • Oversee all air freight and expedited operations within a designated region or account portfolio, ensuring timely, cost-effective, and compliant shipment execution.
  • Fulfill a dual role as a "Player Coach," actively supporting daily operations while leading the team to achieve service and performance goals.
  • Manage carrier and agent relationships, including handling service inquiries, resolving escalations, and ensuring carrier and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with internal departments such as Sales, Customer Service, and Compliance to ensure operational alignment with company objectives.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with carriers, agents, and expedited service providers to ensure competitive pricing and service reliability.
  • Ensure all shipment details, milestones, and documentation are accurately updated in a timely manner in relevant systems.
  • Monitor industry trends, capacity shifts, and regulatory updates in the air and expedited sectors; recommend and implement operational improvements as needed.
  • Provide performance updates and operational insights to management and key stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable TSA, IATA, FAA, and company regulations and standards.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance workflows, systems, and operational scalability.
  • Negotiate and quote expedited and freight rates on both a spot and long-term basis to drive cost efficiency and margin improvement.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews with carrier partners and evaluate service KPIs to ensure accountability and identify improvement opportunities.



Supervisory Responsibilities



  • The Senior Team Lead will be responsible for overseeing the work of the team, which may include supervising team members and coordinating with other departments and teams.



Educational background / Work experience



  • Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred, but not required.
  • At least 3 years of experience in Air Freight, Expedited, or a related operational logistics function.
  • Prior experience in a supervisory or leadership role is preferred.



Preferred Qualifications



  • Certification in logistics or supply chain management is preferred.
  • Prior experience working with carriers, brokers, and transportation providers is a plus.
  • Experience with industry-specific software.



Skills & Competencies



  • Strong knowledge of Air Freight and Expedited regulations, procedures, and documentation requirements
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with team members, customers, and partners.
  • Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions based on that data.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint



Language skills



  • Fluent in English (oral and written)



Computer Literacy



  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is required.
  • Experience with industry-specific software is a plus



Physical and/or Mental Requirements / Working Conditions

Physical Demands

Work is generally sedentary, with no specific need for physical coordination or effort. May require physical effort associated with using the computer to access information, or occasional standing, walking, lifting needed to carry out everyday activities. Hours can be extensive as well as occasionally staggered for multi-shift access. While performing the duties of this job, the employee uses his/her hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, or crouch; talk or hear. The employee uses computer and telephone equipment. Specific vision requirements of this job include close vision and distance vision. Minimal travel maybe required for this role domestically and internationally.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee rarely is exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. For this position, the expected base pay is:$62,500 - $84,500/ Annual. Actual base compensation will be determined based on various factors including job-related knowledge, geographical location, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations.
