Program Coordinator
Clay Institute for Civic Engagement and Economic Justice

Located within the Saint Louis University Center for Social Action(part of the Division of Diversity and Innovative Community Engagement), the Program Coordinator will help achieve the mission of the William L. Clay Institute for Civic Engagement and Economic Justice.

Office Location: Center for Global Citizenship

Status: Full-Time

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Student Formation and Leadership Development

  • With guidance from Center for Social Action staff, execute programming to advance civic engagement and education for students on campus.

  • Plan and facilitate the Social Justice and Advocacy Trainings.

  • Organize immersion experiences related to policy education and awareness, including trips for students to Washington D.C. as well as engagement with local government offices.

  • Support the Assistant Director for Advocacy and Civic Engagement with the Policy Pod program.

Community Partnerships

  • Engage with community stakeholders on issues related economic justice.

  • Develop partnerships with nonprofits and government agencies that focus on these issues, as well as faculty and students who are interested in collaborating.

  • Join various coalitions related to economic justice and development in the St. Louis region.

  • Voter Engagement and Education. In collaboration with offices across campus, oversee voter registration efforts for students.

  • Plan programming to raise awareness on local, state and federal elections.

Intergroup and/or Civic Dialogue

  • In collaboration with the DICE Faculty Fellow and Cross-Cultural Center, plan and facilitate intergroup dialogue programming among students, faculty and staff on various topics.

  • Work to promote civil discourse on various civic and societal issues.

  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

* Bachelor's degree required, preferably in an area related to community engagement

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Experience working in areas of civic engagement, economic justice, policy, advocacy, community organizing, higher education,or with college students
* Strong writing, communication,and organizational skills

Remote/In-person Expectations

This position will require the individual to work in the office with the flexibility to work a hybrid schedule, up to one day per week remotely, upon completion of the first 6 months of initial onsite training and familiarizing with department work and operations in compliance with the requirements of the SLU Remote Staff Flexible Work Policy.

This position is beingfundedby adesignatedsource, and therefore continuation in the position is contingent upon funding availability.

*This position is fully funded for four years, with the possibility of extension pending additional funding.
