Overview

The Senior Procurement Manager is responsible for both tactical and strategic procurement activities including sourcing, managing and maintaining specific groups or classifications of purchased materials and services. May lead and/or manage other procurement personnel related to assigned projects, programs or commodities. Acts as a liaison between leadership team, internal customers and suppliers to meet or exceed expectations for quality, quantity, price, delivery and innovation. Follows, develops, improves and maintains processes and systems utilized by the company to perform procurement related tasks and functions. Supports annual and quarterly strategic planning activities. Works collaboratively across the organization and actively supports MIC's values and beliefs.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and comply with all Company safety policies and procedures
  • Support the implementation of industry best practices and a mindset of continuous improvement
  • Review, analyze and monitor assigned supplier/subcontractor capabilities, quotes, bids and performance
  • Execute daily, weekly and monthly tactical and strategic activities to insure the timely and efficient management of assigned materials and services
  • Research, analyze, configure and draw informed data driven conclusions from procurement data in support of department and company KPI's
  • Lead, manage, coach and mentor direct reports or junior level business partners
  • Prepare, process and monitor purchase orders and change orders
  • Facilitate the timely resolution of issues with suppliers related to price, quality, delivery, condition, etc.
  • Work closely with the MasTec legal team and facilitate contractual negotiations including terms, conditions and price
  • Monitor, update and improve systems, processes and documents used to perform procurement activities
  • Attend meetings and facilitate discussions with internal customers and externals suppliers to promote strong communication and alignment of expectations and results
  • Create, update, communicate and present procurement data and recommendations at applicable meetings
  • Develop and maintain expertise on assigned products and services
  • Maintain and communicate knowledge of market conditions and industry activity that may impact business
  • Research and evaluate new sources for assigned products and services
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor
  • Manage, lead direct reports, and mentor.

SUPERVISORY:

Must be able to manage, lead and mentor multiple direct reports in the Procurement Department.


Qualifications

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Construction Management, Engineering or Business and 5 years related experience with demonstrated leadership and improvement results
  • Supply Chain Certification (CSCP, CSCM, CPP, etc.) or demonstrated equivalent experience
  • The ideal candidate will have demonstrated progressive experience and career advancement in Industrial construction/EPC industry and/or best-in-class supply chain company

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Be knowledgeable of MIC Health and Safety programs and project specific regulations.
  • When on-site, actively participate in daily toolbox meetings with crews and subcontractors.
  • Set a personal example of safe behavior.
  • Experience leading and managing others
  • Strong data analysis and advanced problem-solving skills
  • Strong computer skills and advanced knowledge of Microsoft office suite, especially Excel
  • Experience using and leveraging industry specific software and data mining from ERP software
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering and technical documents
  • Advanced understanding of terms, nomenclature and business models used in the construction industry
  • Ability to be accurate, precise and follow set procedures and standards
  • Excellent collaboration and written, verbal and electronic communication skills
  • Ability to interact professionally with all levels within the organization and with clients, subcontractors and suppliers
  • Other may duties may be assigned

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position requires prolonged sitting at a desk and working at a computer. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times.

HOURS:

This position is a standard full-time position, with general business 40-hour operating schedule, Monday-Friday.

TRAVEL:

Must be able to travel up to 50% of the time.
