Position Summary

PLEASE NOTE: This position is for the UNM Gallup Branch, located
in Gallup, NM, approximately 138 miles west of Albuquerque, NM.


The University of New
Mexico-Gallup invites applications for the position of Lecturer I or II within
our Construction Technology program. As one of four branch community colleges
of the University of New Mexico, we serve approximately 2,200 students in a vibrant
and culturally rich environment. Located in Gallup, New Mexico-approximately
138 miles west of Albuquerque-UNM-Gallup is situated in the Four Corners
region, in close proximity to the Navajo Nation, Zuni Pueblo, and Hopi
Reservation. The city of Gallup, with a population of 22,000, offers a unique
blend of outdoor recreational activities, diverse museums, and extraordinary
cultural experiences, all while maintaining a welcoming small-town atmosphere.

UNM-Gallup is committed
to serving a diverse student population and employs over 100 full-time and
part-time faculty members. We are fully accredited by the Higher Learning
Commission and offer a range of academic programs, including Associate degrees,
selected Bachelor's degrees, Career Technical Education certificate programs,
as well as adult basic education (ABE/GED), workforce training, and personal
enrichment courses. Our institution also collaborates with multiple high school
populations, including McKinley Academy, Middle College High School, and the Center
for Career and Technical Education.

This is an exciting
time to join our faculty as we expand our programs, engage with our community,
and establish multiple endowments and grant opportunities while hiring a
substantial cohort of new faculty members. Faculty members at UNM-Gallup have
access to career advancement opportunities as outlined in the UNM Faculty
Handbook and the faculty union collective bargaining agreement.

Key
Responsibilities:

The successful
candidate will be expected to:

  • Teach
    a 27 credit-hour course load in the area of Construction Technology,
    annually.
  • Maintain
    an active record of service, as defined by the UA-UNM Collective
    Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
  • Participate
    in monthly division meetings.
  • Execute
    other relevant duties as agreed upon in collaboration with the division
    chair, as outlined in the annual faculty-chair agreement.

In addition, the
selected candidate will be expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to
diversity, equity, and inclusion by actively practicing inclusive behavior and
proactively managing bias within the educational environment.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Certifications or Industry-recognized credentials in construction-related technologies (i.e., NCCER or OSHA)
  • A minimum of five
    years' work experience in the construction trade

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree in Construction Technology or closely-related field
  • A minimum of three years demonstrated experience teaching Construction Technology or Building Trades at the secondary or post-secondary level.
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
