General Purpose of Job: Provides clerical/clinical support for the Sparrow Rehabilitation operations in order to maximize the value, potential, and satisfaction of our customers. Essential Duties: This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Associates may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.
- Greet and receive patients and visitors in the department as appropriate.
- Answer the telephone and direct calls to associates and other departments appropriately; demonstrate ability to handle a large volume of telephone calls daily.
- Schedule patient appointments and obtain information for registration and billing; makes reminder telephone calls to patients as appropriate.
- Compile, maintain and distribute daily and weekly rehabilitation schedules.
- Prepare patient charts for services and discharge patient charts following department guidelines.
- Perform computer assignments, including correspondence, reports, forms, etc. with accuracy and on a timely basis.
- Open, sort and distribute department mail.
- Demonstrate effective use of all office equipment.
- Perform routine clerical tasks and assists other clerical associates with office duties as needed.
- Obtains billing information to assist with the pre-registration of patients.
- Enter patient charges daily on the EPIC and Statistical system as assigned.
- Cross-train with other office staff to competently cover other positions as needed.
- Monitor, inventory and order department supplies. Maintain inventory of department therapy supplies and purchasing records. Generate purchasing requisitions.
- Cooperate with pediatric rehab staff and other health system departments in order to maximize the efficiency of non-clinical services such as the registering, scheduling, and billing of our patients.
- Assist in the provision of therapy interventions under the supervision of a staff PT, PTA, ATC, OTR or COTA SLP. Therapy interventions include but are not limited to: modality assistance, equipment and treatment area set-up and clean-up, splinting, casting, aquatic therapy program assistance, assistance with ambulation, transfers, wheelchair mobility, and mat activities and assistance with ADL's and tabletop activities.
- Greet and transport patients from the waiting area to the treatment area.
- Communicate verbally with the responsible clinician regarding the patient's feedback related to the delegated intervention.
- Perform and document cleaning and maintenance activities according to department standards. These include but are not limited to cleaning treatment booths, stocking clean linens, removing dirty linens, disinfecting patient care equipment, and performing routing maintenance checks.
- Seek ways to continually improve the value of our services and maximize our customers' rehabilitation potential by actively participating in activities such as inservices, staff meetings, team meetings, and continuing education courses.
- Maximize customer satisfaction by treating our customers with respect and responding to their needs in a prompt, friendly, and courteous manner.
Job Requirements
General Requirements |
* BLS Certification (within 6 months of hire). |
Work Experience |
* Minimum of six (6) months experience in a healthcare office or similar setting. |
Education |
* High school diploma, GED or successful completion of 12 grades combined with continued enrollment in early college program |
Specialized Knowledge and Skills |
* Complete data entry testing with accuracy of 85% or higher * Demonstrate working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications or other computer software as deemed appropriate. * Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills. * Demonstrate knowledge of medical terminology. * Demonstrate ability to prioritize and keep pace in a very busy setting. * Ability to perform multiple tasks and adapt to changing work situations. * Ability in handle office machinery such as fax machines and multi-line phone system. |
