Job Summary

This position functions as both a dispatcher and an analyst within the Plant Operations & Maintenance Support unit providing support to the Plant Operations & Maintenance Department and the Health System.The Plant Operations & Maintenance dispatcher receives and responds to a variety of emergency and non-emergency calls dispatching PO&M skilled craft mechanics to appropriate locations in accordance with customer requests and emergent issues using 800 MHz radio, telephone, pager, cell phone and text message communications. The PO&M Department functions as first responders to all hospital emergencies and codes. Dispatchers must respond immediately to hospital codes dispatching via radio to all skilled craft mechanics to respond to site location and documentation is maintained. Individual must be organized, adept at multi-tasking, level-headed and trustworthy. Possess excellent customer service skills, clear and concise communications with department managers, employees and Health System staff at all levels.When not serving on scheduled rotation as the dispatcher, incumbent will provide analytical support to the department for work order management, record keeping, accounting, timekeeping and administrative duties inclusive of preparing and updating, on-call and shift rotation schedules for skilled craft mechanics. In addition, incumbent will produce work order management spreadsheets, reports and graphical presentations of department workload and productivity as requested by PO&M Management.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
  • Experience and ability to verify and process invoices for payment and review and process contracts.
  • Experience and knowledge, using two-way radio and proper radio etiquette.
  • Extensive knowledge of business and accounting methods.
  • Knowledgeable and computer savvy to manage and maintain work order management system and other software programs utilized by the department.
  • Organizational skills to prioritize tasks and meet departmental expectations with.an emphasis on quality, quantity, and timeliness of work.
  • Ability to handle emergency situations and complete a heavy, varied workload with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to withstand and work effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to identify issues and prioritize responses to alarms when they occur.
  • Customer service, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills to interact and communicate effectively and professionally with administrative staff, visitors and volunteers, using diplomacy and judgement.
  • Ability to read and interpret computer management report; skills to conduct mathematical and statistical, and comparable model for analysis of various functions and projections of future implications.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel to perform mathematical functions and report formats.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, which includes Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Valid California Driver's License
  • Experienced and skilled in Financial System to enter monthly internal recharge billing to customers.
  • Skilled and knowledgeable of the UCDH Ecotime Time and Attendance Program.
  • Ability to develop and maintain standard operating procedures, manuals and presentation hand-outs.
  • Knowledge of the English language mathematics used to generate administrative and financial reports.
  • Ability to learn new software applications.

Department Overview

Plant Operations & Maintenance (PO&M) has the responsibility to maintain UCDH buildings, utilities, and grounds at the UC Davis Health. The PO&M Department consists of approximately 132 staff members providing support to operations and maintenance of the hospital, clinical, medical education, research and administration buildings and grounds that includes 148 acres and structures that total 4 million GMSF.
