Job Summary:

The #1 Department of Curriculum and Instruction is seeking a friendly, outgoing, and computer savvy administrative specialist to support the department's finance, HR, and academic operations. Under the general direction of the Department Administrator you are responsible for providing administrative support to faculty, staff, and students through your expertise in UW purchasing, travel, and recruitment policies and processes. This is a fast paced office and you will be in the center of it all as you support the department's goals and objectives.

Key responsibilities will include serving as the department's travel expert - assisting faculty, staff, and guests with booking travel. Processing expense reimbursements. Serve as department p-card holder, procuring supplies for faculty research projects and department operations. Assisting with faculty and staff recruitment processes. This is an illustrative list and does not reflect a full description of duties, other duties may be required and assigned.

This is a full-time position. Remote work, up to one day per week, is available following probation.


Responsibilities:
Responsible for a variety of professional level work across a variety of administrative service areas including budget, finance, procurement, and human resources with impact across the institution in support of unit or institutional goals.

  • 40% Implements and executes established policies and procedures for a designated work unit to adhere to unit objectives and to align with established strategies
  • 25% Schedules logistics and secures resources for a designated work unit to contribute to the day-to-day operational success
  • 15% Analyzes data and trends, compiles progress reports, and provides appropriate recommendations or conclusions in support of the assigned operational work unit(s)
  • 10% Assists, recommends, and advises staff on unit or program administrative issues, personnel matters, and budgetary problems
  • 10% Serves on committees and attends meetings, representing the interests of the unit or program

Education:

Preferred
Bachelor's Degree in business, finance, accounting, human resources, or related field.


Qualifications:

Minimum of three years work experience required. Prior work experience in accounting, bookkeeping, human resources, or similar field desired. Attention to detail and strong computer skills required. Working knowledge of MS Office products, Google Suite products, and ability to learn new software systems desired. Experience working in an office setting providing high level administrative support desired.

Full Time: 100%

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.
