Position Summary Information
Primary Purpose |
The Pre-Clinical Coordinator plays a critical role in the delivery of pre-clinical education for dental students by managing daily operations of the simulation lab and clinical dispensary. Reporting to the Director of the
PHCC and the
PRD Course Director, the incumbent will coordinate lab schedules, oversee inventory and materials, support compliance with safety protocols, and serve as the primary liaison between faculty, students, and the sim lab. This role also includes overseeing the Student Store to ensure availability of essential supplies for student learning. |
Essential Functions |
Simulation Lab & Dispensary Operations:
- Collaborate with course directors to plan and execute simulation-based instruction.
- Develop and maintain the sim lab schedule in coordination with faculty and program needs.
- Prepare and break down instructional environments, including equipment, supplies, and stations.
- Order and manage inventory of instruments, supplies, and materials using digital inventory systems.
- Maintain a clean, orderly lab and dispensary environment.
- Maintain a clear separation between sterilized and contaminated materials.
- Collect, disinfect, sterilize, and manage instruments and clinical materials per infection control protocols.
- Dispose of single-use items appropriately.
- Use PPE as required and report any infractions in a professional manner.
- Review and follow Safety Data Sheets and protocols for handling hazardous materials.
- Maintain accurate digital records of supply issuance and returns; notify students/faculty of overdue items.
- Ensure compliance with infection control, FERPA, HIPAA, and university safety policies. Additional training provided as needed.
Student Store Operations:
- Oversee the daily operations of the Student Store located within the SIM lab.
- Track usage trends and maintain inventory of student supplies.
- Order supplies in collaboration with the San Francisco team to ensure consistent stock.
- Maintain financial and transaction records in accordance with institutional policies.
- Ensure the store is accessible, organized, and fully stocked throughout the academic term.

Minimum Qualifications |
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two (2) years of administrative support experience.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to take direction and actively listen.
- Dental Assistant (DA) or Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) certification.
- One to two (1-2) years of experience in dental, clinical, academic, or sim lab settings.
- Familiarity with sterilization, infection control, and simulation lab technology.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and scheduling/inventory systems.
- Experience in academic support, inventory management, or retail operations is a plus.
- Work independently or as part of a team.
- Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
- Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work

Hiring Range |
$18.99 - $23.74 per hour. We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. |
