The Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Virginia's (UVA) School of Medicine, seeks highly-motivated, engaged candidates for a Lab Specialist to conduct research in the Larner/Genetta Lab. We have identified the transcription factor and master regulator of the epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT), ZEB1 as a key molecule that functions directly in the repair of double-stranded Breaks by recruiting the repair pathway- choice protein 53BP1. A background in molecular genetics/gene regulation is preferred but not required; candidate should have demonstrated proficiency in standard biochemical and molecular techniques. The successful applicant will be expected to independently design, execute and critically interpret experiments and to work both independently and as part of a team. This is an ideal position for someone with an interest in pursuing research as a career and/or graduate studies in molecular genetics-related fields.
