Position Summary |
The Assistant Director of Learning & Development (Asynchronous Learning) will be responsible for the administration of the Professional Educational Portal (
PEP). This position will oversee the development, maintenance, upgrades, and deployment of the platform. This role will collaborate with campus leaders and the governance committee in making key decisions to support and maintain the integrity of the platform. This position will promote the usage, demonstrate the value of the platform, and provide metrics on its various uses and impact. As the key contact for the
LMS provider, this role will report issues, recommend functionality improvements, notify the university community of system upgrades, and will partner with
EITS for all system technical modifications and improvements. The Assistant Director of Learning & Development (Asynchronous Learning) will also lead an effective and motivated team of
LMS specialists and an instructional designer. |

Professional Educational Portal Management
- Serve as the primary administrator of UGA's faculty and staff professional development learning management system (i.e. Global System Administrator)
- Oversee the delivery and management of the learning management system platform which includes managing projects, transitions, and workflow related to learning technologies, performance management, and online learning hosted in the system.
- Oversee user support to include call/ticket management.
- Advise the Director of Learning and Development on policies, procedures, and potential changes to the learning management
- Ensures compliance with internal and external requirements and maintains current knowledge of guidelines and regulations. Ensures content on learning technologies and online education is up-to-date and accurate.

Personnel Supervision
- Effectively recruit, supervise, and retain highly skilled, highly motivated, and customer-focused IT personnel. Ensure that the Learning & Development strategic vision and PEP initiatives are effectively communicated to impact the accomplishment of their roles.
- Assure the continued development and strengthening of the PEP Team through deliberate constructive evaluation, performance monitoring, coaching, mentoring, and professional development.

Liaison with Key College, University, and Outside Groups
- Partner with EITS for all system technical modifications and improvements ensuring that the platform remains viable and can support the needs of the university.
- Oversee the PEP Operations Committee with learning management system audits and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Oversee system administrator training to campus partners utilizing the platform for customized programs, and provide services to campus departments who need individualize support.
- Effectively communicate the PEP strategic plan, needs, and service expectations with a diverse array of internal college constituencies, including administrators, faculty, and staff
- Manage relationships and project strategies with vendors or consultants concerning PEP and other online professional development initiatives
- Provide regular reports to senior leadership in UHR, EITS, OVPFA and other leaders utilizing the platform

- Lead planning and project management initiatives and processes related to PEP and the online professional learning for faculty and staff.
- Work with the Director of Learning and Development to develop, implement, and communicate a strategic vision for PEP that is broadly embraced by the University community.
- Actively align PEP team skill sets, resources, services, and non-personal assets to Learning and Development strategic direction, goals, and objectives.
- Develop and manage departmental budget and resources.
