Electrician

CSHL, a globally recognized scientific research institution located on Long Island's North Shore, is currently hiring an Electrician to support our world-class facilities and research infrastructure.

Maintains and installs all electrical systems by the National Electrical Code under the general supervision of the Manager, electrical services, or a Master Electrician

• Constructs, installs, troubleshoots, and tests electrical systems for new construction, building renovation, and building modification.
• Routes and installs signal lines for telephones, computer networks, and other communication systems.
• Performs all required preventative and corrective maintenance to electrical systems and components on Laboratory grounds.
• Installs, maintains, and operates emergency backup generators.
• Interacts with Laboratory administration and scientific staff in the performance of job duties.
• Performs tasks and duties as directed by the Manager, Electrical Services.

EDUCATION: Must have a High School diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE:

• Must have worked and completed an approved electrical apprenticeship program
• 0-4 years' experience working as an Electrician

SKILLS:

• A working knowledge of the National Electrical Code is required.
• Must be able to work independently if required.
• Basic electrical installation/construction skills
• valid driver's license

The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
