About the Job

The Department of Cultural Studies and Comparative Literature invites applications for part-time, temporary Teaching Specialist or Lecturer positions for openings occurring in the fall 2025 and spring 2026 semesters. Duties include teaching undergraduate students in assigned course(s), holding office hours to assist and advise students, and participating in department meetings and service to the department. Available courses are;

Fall 2025

  • CSCL/SCMC 3221: On Television (Online Asynchronous, cap 85, one TA)

Spring 2026

  • CSCL/SCMC 1202W: Media (T/Th 1:00-2:15PM, cap 96, two TAs)
  • CSCL/SCMC 3220W: Screen Cultures (W/F 9:45-11:00, cap 30)
  • CSCL/SCMC 3221: On Television (Online Asynchronous, cap 85, one TA)
Qualifications

9753 Teaching Specialist

Required Qualifications:

  • M.A. (or foreign equivalent) in a relevant discipline
  • At least one year of post baccalaureate teaching experience in the humanities, social sciences, or related field
  • Detailed and extensive knowledge of history, theory, and social context of the fields to be taught
  • Familiarity with the Cultural Studies and Comparative Literature curricula

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two years of teaching experience at the collegiate level in relevant disciplinary fields with documented evidence of teaching excellence
  • M.F.A. (or foreign equivalent) in a relevant discipline

9754 Lecturer

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in a relevant discipline
  • At least one year of post baccalaureate teaching experience in the humanities, social sciences, or related field
  • Detailed and extensive knowledge of history, theory, and social context of the fields to be taught
  • Familiarity with the Cultural Studies and Comparative Literature curricula

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two years of teaching experience at the collegiate level in relevant disciplinary fields with documented evidence of teaching excellence

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $8,000 - $10,250 per course; depending on education/qualifications/experience.

Retirement plan options are available for Civil Service, Faculty, Labor-Represented, Professional & Administrative, and Temp Casual classifications. Learn more about retirement plans.
