GENERAL SUMMARY

The Associate Quality Engineer is responsible for performing activities related to the verification of quality compliance of supplied products, process quality, production functions, and operations. The Associate Quality Engineer reports to the Manager of Quality Assurance. This is a second shift position.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

  • Inspection of incoming parts per established sampling plan; inspection based on part criticality and quality (NCR) history.
  • First Article Inspection of new supplied product or product after design/drawing changes.
  • Inspection/containment of suspect non-conforming supplied product
  • Inspection/verification of supplier corrective action effectiveness on lots supplied after SCAR response and CA.
  • Reporting of daily inspection results to Purchasing, Planning, Manufacturing and Quality Engineering.
  • Receipt, verification, and record retention of Material Certifications.
  • Establish the appropriate metrics that are necessary to identify processes and product quality of each product line. Report upon and manage the improvement of these metrics.
  • Communicate non-conformances and corrective action evaluations of all suppliers and work with key suppliers to improve the quality of these products and processes.
  • Assist in all new product and product redesign development projects.
  • Assist in the review and evaluation of nonconforming material.
  • Develop and implement QC departmental ISO procedures. Provide necessary implementation and support.
  • Assist the Quality Engineers in the coordination, scheduling of customer inspections and third-party inspection agencies to ensure that the orders have maximum throughput.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in quality or an engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a manufacturing setting.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Blueprint reading with a full understanding of geometric tolerances.
  • Knowledge of quality methods, tools, and instruments.
  • Programming of a CMM (Coordinate measuring machine) is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interface with a wide variety of disciplines throughout the organization, customers, and suppliers.
  • Ability to develop and implement training for quality systems and methods.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel at a minimum.
  • Knowledge of statistical methods and tools.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Use of tools and measuring instruments necessary for measuring quality.
  • Typing/data entry.
  • Handling of material and components that require need for use of hoists and lifts.
  • Standing while inspecting.
  • Some travel may be required for this position and could include international travel.


WORKING CONDITIONS

Normal manufacturing and office environment. When working occasionally in some shop areas, personal protection equipment (PPE) will be recommended and/or required (safety shoes, safety glasses w/side shields, hearing protection, face shield, gloves, apron and boots). Stress may result from workload and meeting schedules. Must have the ability to support extended business hours to meet customer business needs.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

DeZURIK offers a competitive base salary in the $64,680 to $80,849 range, based on experience and qualifications, along with annual bonus opportunities tied to performance.
