The Energy Group is seeking an Engineering Manager (or Director). This exciting leadership role will be based in either our Kennesaw, GA (HQ) or Tampa, FL, office locations. In this role, you will be responsible for managing a team of Mechanical, Electrical, I&C, Structural, and Civil Engineers and Designers. Leadership & Staff Development: Demonstrate technical and personnel leadership, providing resolution to technical issues, growth and development of staff while minimizing attrition and supporting the growth and success of this rapidly growing group. Perform day-to-day staff management, perform annual reviews, promote the career and technical growth of staff. Recruit, interview, and hire staff. Develop performance improvement plans for staff as required. Identify and develop future leaders of the organization
- Client & Business Development: Maintain external client relationships, resolve conflicts and concerns with clients, and develop client relationships to win Engineer of Choice contracts. Support ENERCON's Business Development (BD) team. Support marketing efforts by preparing and delivering capabilities presentations to external clients. Contribute to BD through individual efforts and client contacts to reach future growth goals. Contribute to proposals by prepping technical scope and estimating labor hours
- Project & Task Management: At a Major Projects level, hold weekly meetings with direct reports to ensure the maintenance of schedules, budgets, and excellent quality of deliverables. Assign tasks to balance workload and review, approve, and, if applicable, affix a professional engineer's seal to documents
- Technical Expertise: Possess Mechanical, Electrical, and/or Structural design and engineering consulting experience, preferably within the power generation or large industrial facility markets
- Business Goals & Performance: Contribute to Business Goals by meeting budgeted billable time for self and staff. Set long-range plan and yearly budgets. Develop the strategy for the engineering team with respect to clients, services, markets, and growth. Set staffing goals and work to increase hiring and decrease attrition
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
- A minimum of 10+ years of engineering experience
- Including experience in the design of power and process systems for large Industrial clients and/or Electric Utility power generation is required
- PE is highly preferred and will be given preference
- Must have a minimum of 6 years of supervisory experience
- Significant technical expertise in one of the engineering disciplines
- Ability to write technical scope and prepare estimates for key proposals in the applicable engineering discipline
- Ability to manage multi-discipline personnel located in multiple geographic locations
- Knowledge of applicable government codes and industry standards in applicable discipline
- Excellent organizational, time management, strategic planning, writing, communication, decision-making, and presentation skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable and effective communicator with staff, clients (internal and external), and management
- Ability to choose the right mode of communication for the situation and relay the right message
- Strong technical writing, attention to detail, and human performance skills
- Strong coordination and team-building skills; demonstrated ability to work across disciplines, divisions, and teams
- Ability to assess and understand team strengths and weaknesses and adjust level of support/oversight as appropriate
- Ability to motivate team members and achieve goals through a positive, winning attitude and effective leadership style which is consistent with ENERCON's Defining Excellence fundamentals
- Problem-solving and general scientific evaluation skills
- Required to travel up to 15% of the time, with majority of travel being single overnight trips to clients or ENERCON office
- Expected to travel at least once per month to client sites for project or marketing purposes
