Accounting Manager

This position is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the corporate accounting department, including financial reporting, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance. This role requires a meticulous individual with strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to manage and mentor a team effectively. The position may be based in Northville, Michigan and reports directly to the Director, HQ Accounting of the company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities



  • Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to: accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and intercompany transactions.
  • Prepare and review financial statements and reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.
  • Manage the month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts, ensuring all discrepancies are resolved promptly.
  • Supervise and support accounting staff, providing guidance and professional development opportunities.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and manage audit processes.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure effective internal controls.
  • Analyze financial data and create reports for management, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Support special projects and initiatives as needed.



Minimum Requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, including management roles. Thorough knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Experience with accounting software and financial management systems (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle).
