The Associate Director, Faculty Services, serves as an integral member of the Bucks Online area within the Learning Resources department (Academic Affairs Division) responsible for the efficient and effective operation of Canvas, the College's Learning Management System (LMS), as well as other software/systems related to the delivery of instruction. Other essential responsibilities include working directly with faculty to support their teaching endeavors such as creating training materials, delivering training through a variety of modalities, and responding to daily questions and issues surrounding instructional technology in a challenging and fast-paced environment.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Oversee and maintain the administration of the Canvas LMS.

  • Oversee and maintain the administration of the Concourse Syllabus Management System.

  • Design, develop, and deliver Canvas/Concourse/Technologies training to faculty, both group and one-on-one, via multiple modalities (step-by-step documentation, video, face-to-face).

  • Guide and support faculty on using Canvas effectively for online teaching and learning.

  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues in Canvas and Concourse.

  • Process the integration of publisher and other third-party content using LTIs or otherwise.

  • Research and test Canvas new release features and processes to ensure features work as expected and documentation is accurate; effectively communicate changes and impact to end users.

  • Develop and implement programs and resources to support faculty success.

  • Serve as the technical contact liaison with software vendors (Canvas, Concourse) including third-party vendors whose products integrate with Canvas.

  • Monitor usage trends in Canvas, Concourse, and third-party vendor software.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with ITS and other departments to resolve issues and improve technological systems that support online learning.

  • Collaborate with other departments in preparing/customizing resource spaces in Canvas.

  • Collaborate with peers at other institutions to determine and facilitate best practices in teaching with technology.

  • Stay informed about changes in state and federal regulations that impact online teaching and learning.

  • Serve as a back-up to the Associate Dean, Bucks Online and Associate Director, Student Services.

  • Remain abreast of technological advancements in instructional technologies and related innovative applications.

  • Perform other tasks assigned that support the mission and initiatives of the College and/or Bucks Online.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in higher education, instructional design, computer science, or related field preferred.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in higher education online learning and learning technologies support.

  • Extensive knowledge of Canvas LMS both from an administrative and user perspective.

  • Familiarity with Concourse, or other syllabus management systems, from an administrative and user perspective.

  • Experience with Learning Tool Interoperability (LTI) integrations.

  • Working knowledge of HTML and SQL.

  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications.

  • Familiarity with student information systems (SIS) and data reporting.

  • Knowledge of e-learning, remote learning and/or instructional technology tools.

  • Ability to elicit information from and relay technical details to the end user using vocabulary/terminology the end user can clearly understand.

  • Ability to work in stressful situations under the pressure of deadlines; may be required to see a problem to completion beyond normal work schedule.

  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously for sustained periods of time.

  • Ability to exercise independent judgment within parameters defined by college policy.

  • Familiarity with best practices in instructional design.

Salary Range $65,618- $80,000 (commensurate with experience)
