Summary: The Director, External Supply Ops will manage Pacira business relationships with pharmaceutical CMOs to ensure contract compliance, capabilities and capacity meets the needs for global markets.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with all internal and external stakeholders. Lead discussions, problem solving efforts and process improvements to ensure performance targets are met or exceeded.
- Provide a leadership role in projects with aggressive timelines and high business impact supporting contract adherence and general management of all aspects of the CMO product value stream. Projects will include but are not limited product transfer to new manufacturing locations, developing new CMO business opportunities, and establishing capability for new products / line extensions.
- Work closely with various departments including Manufacturing, Supply Ops, Procurement, Commercial, Legal, and Quality Assurance to support global product supply for all current and future CMO/CPO operational products.
- Develop and lead QBR discussions and meetings in efforts to achieve performance goals and contract compliance for CMO / CPOs.
- Develop useful metrics to measure and monitor performance of CMO.
- Manage process and ensure timely ERP transactions for CMO activities.
- Participate in internal planning processes to ensure alignment on production requirements at assigned CMOs and delivery of product.
- Communicate PO's and Forecasts to CMOs within contractual lead times.
- Participate in CMO / CPO selection activities and contract negotiations to ensure they have the capabilities to meet requirements.
- Identify, propose and manage improvement projects to address process deficiencies or improvement opportunities.
- Ensure Pacira ERP and other systems are aligned with CMO activities.
- Support Global Supply Chain department with special projects as required.
- Assume responsibility for the development, management and adherence to packaging budgets.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This role has supervisory responsibility. Interaction: The incumbent works closely with Manufacturing, Supply Ops, Procurement, Commercial, Legal, and Quality Assurance. In addition, the incumbent will interact with CMOs outside of Pacira.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- 8 years experience working with or for GMP Contract Manufacturing required
- Experience managing CMOs for commercially approved /distributed products, with expertise in contracting, budgeting, supplier development, QBRs and general project management required

- Ability to lead, motivate, and engage others to ensure successful delivery of product to the marketplace
- Strong knowledge of relevant topics within QA, QC, Manufacturing, and Supply Ops as required to efficiently lead cross functional teams
- A quick learner and team player, exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Familiarity with ERP systems and purchasing/planning functions
- Proficient with financial treatment and associated ERP transactions related to job responsibility
- Proficiency in all aspects of Microsoft applications
- Project Management experience of cross functional projects
- Good understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing with knowledge of engineering and pharmaceutical manufacturing processes, and planning practices
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, move between spaces, reach with hands and arms and stoop. Close vision and the need to focus on computer screen, use of hands, fingers and wrist to type on keyboard and manipulate mouse. Work Environment: The work setting is consistent of a typical pharmaceutical manufacturing environment with production areas, offices, and cubicles. This position will be required to travel throughout the US and EU to support current and future CMO operations (up to 15% travel)

Pay Transparency
The base pay range for this role in California is $171,200 per year to $235,400 per year. The range is what we reasonably expect to pay for this role. The range considers a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to: geographic markets, business or organizational needs, skill sets, experience, training, licensure, and certifications.
