The Children's Home of Poughkeepsie has been caring for children throughout the Hudson Valley for over 175 years! We strive to empower children and families to achieve optimal health and well being. We are currently seeking a Psychiatric Providerto work in our Children's Way Counseling Centerin Kingston, NY.

Position Summary:

The Psychiatric Provider is responsible for providing psychiatric evaluations, medication prescription and management, and consultation services to children and adolescents enrolled at the Children's Way Counseling Center. The Psychiatric Provider collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to deliver trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and family-driven care, consistent with New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) regulations and evidence-based best practices.

Schedule: TBD - 14 hours per week

Qualifications

MINIMUM:



  • Licensed and registered as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) by the New York State Education Department.
  • Board Certified PMHNP
  • Registered with the New York State Prescriber Controlled Substance Registry and have a current DEA registration.
  • Minimum two (2) years of clinical experience prescribing medications for children and adolescents preferred (may include clinical practicum).
  • Ability to work effectively with children, adolescents, and families from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Valid NYS Driver License in good condition as determined by the Agency
  • Must complete and pass a pre-employment physical, PPD and drug screen and an annual physical and PPD.



PREFERRED:



  • Licensed and registered as a Medical Doctor by the New York State Education Department.
  • Board Certified in Psychiatry
  • Experience with Medicaid/managed care and other types of client billings.
  • Experience working in the community and knowledge of community resources.
  • Experience in child and adolescent psychiatry strongly preferred.
