Job Duties: Associate with Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC in New York, New York. Conduct detailed financial analysis on individual, public and privately held companies to assess investment opportunities. This includes forecasting financial statements, valuation analysis, market and competitive analysis, returns analysis and unit economics. Prepare detailed investment committee memos outlining the considerations of a particular investment and the terms to propose. Present investment thesis to internal investment committees. Significant interactions with senior management at companies to build relationships and coordinate information requests needed for analysis. Investment management duties, including quarterly valuations, assessing needs for future capital, helping with business development, participation on boards and assessing exit opportunities. Provide trainings and guidance to analysts and other junior team members. Research and develop expertise around various trends, themes and business models across financial services. Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, Mathematics, or a related field and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or in a related role. Employer will accept bachelor's degree equivalent based on single degree, combination of degrees or certifications, or a combination of degree(s) and professional work experience, where determined to be equivalent to U.S. bachelor's degree by a qualified credential evaluation service. Prior experience must include two (2) years with the following: utilizing knowledge of various common and preferred equity structures and terms to apply to individual investments; developing valuation analysis utilizing a variety of techniques, accounting for the impacts of various leverage structures and comparing to industry benchmarks; working with the insurance sector, including capital adequacy, underwriting performance, distribution, differences in sectors and lines (including personal vs. commercial), and competitive landscape, to evaluate relevant acquisition targets; working with the banking and specialty finance sector, including capital adequacy, distribution, valuation techniques (including dividend discount models, return on tangible equity, price to book metrics), and competitive landscape, to evaluate relevant acquisition targets; applying knowledge of the financial technology sector, including analysis of key metrics (including LTV, CAC, and Retention), sub-sector specific trends (including insurtech and payments tech), valuation techniques, and competitive landscape, to evaluate relevant acquisition targets; applying knowledge of the asset and wealth management sector knowledge, including key metrics (including AUM, net flows, management, and performance fees), sub-sector specific trends (including traditional vs. alternative asset management, independent vs. affiliated financial advisors), and competitive landscape, to evaluate relevant acquisition targets; presenting detailed investment analysis to internal committees and building strong relationships with investors, companies, and vendors in the financial services eco-system; assisting portfolio companies in the evaluation, due diligence, and financing structure of acquisition and divestiture activity; developing financial analysis using knowledge of accounting principles, financial statements, key performance indicators, and metrics of financial health; developing tax analysis, including impacts of accelerated depreciation, interest deductibility limits, and capital gains; assisting companies in evaluating and executing changes to their capital structures; analyzing legal entity structures and assessing their implications to structure companies and acquisitions. Travel (domestic) required approximately 10%. All travel reimbursed by the firm. Salary Range: Annual base salary for this New York, New York based position is $200,000/year - $225,000/year.
