Human Resources Generalist, Inova Alexandria

The Human Resources Generalist effectively supports program efforts, partners in organization assessments and planning, supports training initiatives, handles team member relations matters and assists in the talent and performance management process. This role is responsible for providing exceptional service through partnerships with leaders on business decisions related to Inova Health System's human capital management needs. Ensures compliance with organizational policies and relevant laws. Supports all HR related activity for the assigned client areas and partnering with other members of HR to champion HR initiatives.

Job Responsibilities


  • Establishes and maintains positive and effective relationships with leaders and team members at all levels
  • Demonstrates comfort and capability in presenting in small or mid-sized groups and leading cross-functional teams
  • Develops and delivers leadership training to curriculum on performance improvement, standards of behavior, coaching and counseling difficult team member relations issues and change management
  • Partners with team members and leaders to facilitate effective performance management processes and the execution of performance reviews, development plans and performance improvement plans
  • Demonstrates an ability to manage and resolve team member relations issues, change management efforts and increasing operational excellence
  • Serves as a trusted advisor and counsel for Human Resources programs and activities such as team member relations, compensation, performance management, policies and procedures, talent acquisition, organizational communications, reporting and any special projects as assigned
  • Provides support to Human Resources (HR) operations and HR eService Center with policy information/interpretation, documentation/paperwork collection and follow up
  • Supports HR Operations in the scheduling and coordination of new hire orientation
  • Generate various reports for HR Operations team and people leaders

HR Generalist Minimum Requirements:



  • 2 years of experience in Human Resources
  • Education - High School or GED


HR Generalist Preferred Qualifications:



  • 1+ years of exmployee relations experience
