Summary:

The Risk and Process Assurance Lead is a critical resource supporting both regulatory compliance and operational excellence across the site. Initially focused on compliance oversight and risk mitigation, this role will evolve to lead process and policy assurance efforts-ensuring alignment across departments, vendors, and regulatory standards. The position will support the full operational lifecycle, from incoming supplier processes to outbound shipping, and ensure adherence to ISO, ITAR, SOPs, and internal quality and documentation controls.

This role bridges the gap between compliance and continuous improvement, enabling teams to operate within a structured, well-documented, and audit-ready environment.

Responsibilities:

Regulatory Compliance & Policy Management

  • Serve as the Empowered Official (EO) for the facility, ensuring compliance with all applicable U.S. Government regulations including ITAR, EAR, and other regulatory export control compliance.
  • Create, implement, monitor, audit and report on compliance performance related to ITAR, controlled procedures, and restricted items.
  • Assist in the development of compliance policies and procedures, including company manuals and procedural documentation.
  • Perform risk assessments and gap analyses to evaluate compliance posture and identify improvement areas.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Coordinate item classification activities with the Engineering team to ensure correct export classifications (e.g., ECCN, USML).
  • Support Inside Sales in clarifying End Use/End User information as needed.
  • Support the Supply Chain team by reviewing and validating vendor and supplier compliance with ITAR and other applicable regulatory processes and policies.
  • Work closely with all departments to ensure policies and procedures align with regulatory requirements and internal standards.
  • Collect, coordinate, and analyze compliance data from internal departments to support audits and reporting.

Training & Education

  • Develop and conduct annual compliance training and ensure orientation compliance for all new employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Stay current with industry regulations by attending training, joining professional groups, and reviewing relevant publications.
  • Educate staff across departments on evolving compliance requirements and best practices.

Visitor Management & Site Security

  • Oversee visitor verification and access control, ensuring adherence to internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct badging audits and serve as a backup for facility security functions.
  • Run visual compliance checks and perform national ID verifications for site visitors.

Audit & Continuous Improvement

  • Prepare for and participate in internal and external compliance audits.
  • Compile audit data, analyze trends, and recommend corrective actions where needed.
  • Explore innovative opportunities to add value and improve the compliance function.

Process & Policy Assurance

  • Develop and enforce adherence to standardized policies, procedures, and work instructions across departments.
  • Ensure site-wide conformance to ISO standards, internal SOPs, and document control requirements.
  • Oversee and support consistent execution of policies from incoming supplier requirements (ISR) through final shipment.
  • Conduct internal audits and support external audits (customer, vendor, ISO, etc.) across operations.
  • Collaborate with Quality and Operations to ensure process improvements align with compliance and documentation standards.
  • Monitor document control practices, ensuring all controlled items and procedures are managed properly and kept audit-ready.

Minimum required qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalentrequired
  • One year certificate from college or technical school or a minimum of 3 years related experience and/or training or the equivalent combination of education and experience in regulatory compliance, auditing, or risk management within a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to train and influence others.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other compliance-related systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience as an Empowered Official or in a similar regulatory compliance role.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or engineering-driven environment.
  • Familiarity with DOVER and DBC compliance standards.
  • Compliance certification (e.g., CCEP, CRCM, or similar) is a plus.

  • Strong research and reporting skills with a focus on compliance data analysis.
