Job Overview & Responsibilities

The Engineering and Infrastructure (E&I) Major Projects Systems Engineering Leader, located at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, will oversee, and direct a diverse team of Structural Engineers/Designers/Analysts, Civil Engineers, Project managers, and Facility Systems engineers to support large scale non-recurring efforts at CCSFS and Vandenberg Space Force Base This leader will also track the LOPS NMC recurring budget and support project management efforts for other departments as needed.




  • Responsible for the planning and execution of multi-million-dollar budgets for both labor and non-labor support of launch infrastructure upgrades, retrofits/repairs and new construction
  • Launch site Flight Hardware and GSE storage assessments


  • Tracking budget and project performance for capital, major projects and large non-recurring efforts
  • Supporting non-recurring gate reviews for project readiness, as well as weekly meetings to report status to senior leadership
  • Structural repair or major modification to integration facility infrastructure,
  • Interfacing with base organizations for permitting and other base paperwork
  • Supporting leasing/land acquisitions
  • Facility architectural and structural design, CAD of facility infrastructure
  • Drawing Configuration Management
  • Special Projects, System Continuous Improvement Studies and implementation, various Proposals/Estimates
  • Interface/coordinate with other Launch Operations organizations; Operations Systems Engineering (OSE), Program Ops, Subcontract Management, Safety, Materiel, and Finance
  • Up to 25% travel may be required



Required Education

Bachelor

Required Years of Experience

Minimum of 8 years of related work experience

Basic Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited college or university with 8 years of related experience
  • 2+ years of managing people, project managment or team lead experience
  • Experience with large facility infrastructure project management to include planning, requirements definition, budgets, project controls, and success criteria
  • Excellent communication, writing and oral skills; ability to work with a wide range of team members including customers and subcontractors
  • Managerial experience, including employee evaluations and personnel management
  • Experience collaborating with cross functional teams
  • Applicable skills in an operations environment
  • Experience building and leading a team, demonstrating leadership aptitude
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active DoD Secret Security Clearance is required. US Citizenship is required



Preferred Qualifications



  • Aerospace & Defense experience, working with US Government customers (Air/Space Force, NRO, NASA, DCMA, etc.) and working with Commercial Aerospace/rocket industry customers and suppliers
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Single Scope Background Investigation SSBI Military security clearance
