The Associate Scientist or Senior Associate Scientist, in vitro biology will be a critical member of the scientific team responsible for executing in vitro pharmacology studies for inflammatory diseases and oncology (radiopharmaceuticals) including assay development and compound screening. The qualified candidate will play a pivotal role in preclinically evaluating novel small molecule and peptide drug candidates and generating key data necessary for their progression to IND-enabling studies. Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute in vitro pharmacology studies in BSL2 laboratory using human cell lines and whole blood specimens.
  • in vitro pharmacology studies include but not limited to whole blood receptor occupancy assay, in vitro and ex vivo cellular and/or biochemical assays.
  • Maintain electronic laboratory notebooks for all experiments and contribute to the authoring of standard test methods and data reports.
  • Contribute to the processing, analyzing, and presenting of assay development and screening data to cross-functional project teams and executive leadership
  • Manage and maintain cell lines for in vitro studies and in preparation for in vivo team.
  • Evaluate, manage and maintain lab inventories such as cell lines, antibodies, compounds and reagents.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary scientists to coordinate and to conduct studies adhering to strict timelines
  • Contribute to discovery research efforts to address knowledge gaps in projects.
  • Opportunity to propose new project ideas and lead efforts to validate new targets.
  • Support lab operations including ordering and restocking reagents/consumables, maintaining equipment as needed.
  • Adhere to established Bio-Safety practices.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in biology or related field with at least 3 years industrial experience in CRO, Biotech, or Pharmaceutical laboratories.
  • Exceptional hands-on capabilities to independently conduct experiments including in vitro and ex vivo cellular and/or biochemical assays.
  • Prior experience with cell-based assays with human whole blood handling is preferred.
  • Proven experience with Flow Cytometry and Immunoassays (DELFIA, MSD, ELISA).
  • Familiarity with Microplate Readers and Acoustic Liquid Handlers
  • Experience with binding kinetic experiments using SPR, SPR-m, and biosensor platforms are preferred but not necessary.
  • Familiarity with electronic lab notebook and software such as FlowJo (or Forecyt, NovoExpress, FACSDiva etc), GraphPad Prism.
  • Knowledge of biology and in vitro assays of immunology and oncology.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
  • Familiarity with drug discovery and development process.
  • Ability to work with biospecimens, chemicals, and radioisotopes with strict adherence to safety protocols.

Our Compensation and Benefits

At Ferring, base salary is one part of our competitive total compensation and benefits package and is determined using a salary range. The base salary range for this role is $91,000 to $115,000, which is the reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount paid may differ based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, education and primary work location. Additional compensation for this role will be provided based on competitive annual incentive compensation targets in the form of an annual bonus - payouts are based on individual and company performance.

Benefits for this role include comprehensive healthcare (medical, dental, and vision) with a premium differential, inverse to base salary, to be paid by employees, a 401k plan and company match, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, wellness benefits, reimbursement for certain tuition expenses, sick time of 1 hour per 30 hours worked, vacation time for full time employees to accrue up to 120 hours in the first four (4) years of employment, and 160 hours in the fifth (5th) year of employment as well as 15 paid holidays per year.
