Join us as a Maintenance Mechanic The Maintenance Mechanic ensures the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the facility by performing preventive and corrective maintenance on production equipment, utilities, and grounds. This includes troubleshooting and repairing mechanical and electrical systems, addressing equipment downtime, and maintaining cGMP utility systems like HVAC, plumbing, and electrical infrastructure. The mechanic collaborates with team members to identify root causes of failures, recommend solutions, and contribute to efficiency initiatives. The role involves managing inventory, coordinating with contractors, documenting maintenance activities, and adhering to safety protocols and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate demonstrates technical expertise, a strong safety mindset, and a positive attitude, while contributing to team training and continuous improvement efforts. The Maintenance Mechanic reports to the Maintenance Manager. In this role you'll make an impact by: Maintenance and Repairs
- Safely performing preventive and corrective maintenance on machinery and equipment.
- Troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining cGMP utility systems, such as HVAC, dust collection, coolers, air compressors, lighting, electrical systems, and water/plumbing infrastructure.
- Addressing unscheduled equipment downtime promptly and documenting all actions taken.
Problem-Solving and Collaboration
- Collaborating with team members to identify root causes of equipment failures, recommending solutions, and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Contributing to initiatives aimed at improving system efficiency, reducing energy usage, and supporting cost-saving projects.
- Inventory and Resource Management
- Managing inventory by requisitioning machine parts, equipment, and supplies to maintain appropriate stock levels.
- Coordinating with contractors and suppliers by researching vendors, obtaining quotes, and scheduling external technicians or contractors as needed.
Safety and Emergency Response
- Adhering to company safety standards and protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Responding quickly and effectively to emergencies such as equipment failures, power outages, or other critical maintenance issues.
- Documentation and Standards Compliance
- Accurately completing all required documentation (paper and electronic) for maintenance activities in compliance with cGMP standards.
- Following cGMP and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) strictly, reporting any discrepancies or deviations immediately.
Performance Monitoring and Metrics
- Tracking and recording maintenance Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to evaluate performance and efficiency.
Support and Training
- Providing operators with setup and start-up support when required to ensure smooth operations.
- Assisting in training maintenance and operations staff, sharing knowledge and expertise to enhance team capabilities.
To succeed you must hold: Education and Experience
- Associate degree in a technical field or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Experience with mechanical and electrical systems and equipment.
- Technical Knowledge and Expertise
- Strong understanding of and hands-on experience with mechanical and electrical components, including motors, pumps, valves, bearings, gears, chains, breakers, relays, sensors, instrumentation, etc.
- Proficiency with tools and techniques such as gear pullers, drilling, milling, tapping new threads, lubrication, alignments, seal replacements, stainless-steel welding, machining, fabrication, oil and vibration analysis, etc.
- Knowledge of maintenance processes, including planning, scheduling, storeroom operations, and use of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, including control wiring diagrams, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and general arrangement drawings for manufacturing equipment and utilities.

Work Requirements and Flexibility
- Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts as needed.
- Provide "on-call" support on an as-needed basis.
- Maintain regular attendance and comply with company policies and procedures.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Comfortable working in confined spaces, at heights, or in varying environmental conditions (e.g., heat, cold, outdoors).
- Ability to stand, bend, crouch, or climb ladders for extended periods.
Preferred
- 5+ years of experience in an FDA-regulated or controlled manufacturing environment, preferably in food ingredients, live cultures, or pharmaceuticals.
Certifications
- Relevant certifications such as OSHA Safety Certification, EPA Refrigerant Handling Certification, or trade licenses (e.g., electrician's license).
Technical Skills and Knowledge
- Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), including basic troubleshooting skills and ability to read and understand logic diagrams for PLC and automation equipment.
- Knowledge of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), inspection guidelines, sanitation protocols, food regulations, and product safety.
- Understanding of root cause analysis and other structured problem-solving methods.
- Practical knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, procedures, and tools applied to the design, operation, and maintenance of manufacturing systems.
