Location: This is a hybrid (virtual/onsite) position with required onsite days on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. The preferred work location is Jackson however the work location may be negotiable and assigned to any Consumers Energy Service Center located throughout Michigan's lower Peninsula. The selected candidate must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate (relocation package is available for those that qualify).


General Summary of Job Responsibilities

Interns (Cooperative Assistants) of all levels will work as part of a larger team to provide hands-on support and design/development for various engineering, engineering technology, IT, Security, Business aspects of our business. This could include work in energy delivery - electric engineering, gas engineering, energy operations, cyber security, information technology, learning and development, and more. Interns will help create a better tomorrow for the communities we serve! In addition to working alongside full-time employees carrying out the duties of each business function for the company, Cooperative Assistants will have the option to participate in a number of additional optional events within the program. This includes Cooperative Assistants networking events, company tours, and the consistently top-ranked philanthropic event, the Intern Challenge.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Data Collection: Gathering data from various sources, such as sales numbers, market research, and logistics.
  • Data Cleaning: Ensuring the quality and accuracy of data by removing duplicates, errors, and outliers.
  • Data Analysis: Using statistical and analytical techniques to detect patterns and trends in data.
  • Reporting: Creating reports and visualizations to present findings to stakeholders.
  • Collaboration: Working with cross-functional teams to understand data needs and develop tools for data collection and analysis.
  • Other duties as assigned or may be necessary

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Technical Proficiency: Knowledge of data processing software and tools like Excel, Power BI and Power Apps.
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to interpret complex data sets and provide actionable insights.
  • Communication: Strong skills in presenting data findings clearly and effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Attention to Detail: Ensuring data accuracy and integrity throughout the analysis process.

Education

The following MUST betrue to be eligible for an Intern role:




  • A current student:

    • Pursuing Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
    • Pursuing a Master's in Computer Science or related field




  • Minimum GPA requirement of 2.7 or higher
