Mechanical Engineering Intern - Product Development & Prototyping

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our engineering team. This internship offers hands-on experience in mechanical design, product development from prototyping through production support, including engineering analysis in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. You'll work closely with experienced engineers and scientists to design, fabricate, and validate components for cutting-edge analytical instrumentation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and research scientists to design, prototype and test precision components and assemblies.

• Design mechanical sub-systems using Siemens NX applying DFM/DFA principles

• Perform basic engineering calculations, use computer modeling software (Ansys Workbench)

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, quality, and R&D) to support project development

• Participate in product validation, test setup, and data analysis

• Assist in maintaining project documentation and ensuring compliance with engineering standards

• Contribute to process improvements and innovation initiatives

• Assist in maintaining and improving equipment uptime through preventative maintenance practices.

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree Junior or above in Mechanical Engineering or a related field

• Strong interest in mechanical design, manufacturing, or product development

• Familiarity with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, or NX) NX preferred

• Basic understanding of materials, thermodynamics, and mechanical systems

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

• Effective communication and teamwork abilities

• Eagerness to adapt and self-educate in a dynamic work environment

Note:

Expected graduation date: 2026 or later

Availability to work 16-20 hours/week during the academic year or full-time during summer

The intern pay rate for this position is $25.00 - $30/hour plus eligibility for paid holidays and medical benefits. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
