The Cybersecurity Architect partners and collaborates with Rumpke business and IT leadership to implement security best practices. Working closely with the IT Infrastructure team, this role oversees Rumpke's cybersecurity operations to protect systems, data, and customers from evolving threats. The position requires a seasoned professional with strong experience in cybersecurity, enterprise technology, and collaboration, who can develop and implement a forward-looking security architecture aligned with business goals. Success in this position relies on a proactive approach to IT risk management, strong governance, policy enforcement, and the promotion of best practices to maintain a resilient and adaptable security posture.

Responsibilities of Position:



  • Lead, design, document, and oversee Rumpke's cybersecurity practice.
  • Stay current on emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and industry best practices to recommend proactive solutions to identify, analyze, and mitigate security risks.
  • Partner with key stakeholders to develop and execute a strategic vision for IT products that enhance internal business operations and efficiency.
  • Own the enterprise security architecture lifecycle from ideation to launch, including planning, development, testing, deployment, and optimization.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather requirements, prioritize features, and align solutions with business objectives.
  • Conduct industry research, competitive analysis, and user feedback assessments to drive product innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure product success and inform future decisions.
  • Work closely with cross-functional business teams to identify and address system and process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, security policies, and best practices in IT product development.
  • Manage product budgets, timelines, and resources efficiently to meet business objectives.
  • Act as a bridge between technical teams and internal stakeholders to facilitate seamless communication and alignment.
  • Mentor and develop staff into a high-performing IT organization.
  • Lead negotiations with and management of key external partners and vendors.
  • Other duties as assigned.



Skills & Abilities Needed for Position:



  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements and vice versa.
  • Experience with enterprise software, cloud computing, and internal business applications.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills to drive collaboration across teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple products in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Familiarity with data analytics and automation tools for business process optimization.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity standards (e.g., MITRE ATT&CK, NIST, ISO 27001)


Experience & Knowledge Needed for Position:



  • Technical experience with Cybersecurity technologies, including EDR, MDR, SOC, SIEM, PKI, DNS, SASE, ZTNA, DLP, Vulnerability Scanning, Content Policy, Identity Management and Security Automation
  • Technical understanding of on-prem and cloud infrastructure, including VSphere, AWS, and Azure.
  • Technical understanding of core network technologies, including SD-WAN, Firewalls, Data Center Switching, Access Switching, Wireless, EAP, and 802.1X.
  • Proven experience as an IT Product Manager or in a similar role managing internal IT initiatives.



Physical Requirements in a Regular Workday:



  • Rarely lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 20 lbs.
  • Frequently sitting/standing/walking in an office environment.



Additional Working Conditions/Aspects:



  • Ability to travel between offices, as required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours; expected to work nights and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Valid driver's license (if applicable).
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment testing.
  • Must be able to read and speak the English language.
