Responsibilities

Job Duties and Responsibilities

    Primacy responsibilities include engineering task analysis, walk-downs, design development and generation of design output documents including but not limited to: Location Plans, Connection Diagrams, Conduit / Block Diagrams, Logic Diagrams, Panel Detail Drawings, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, and Battery Loading Calculations in accordance with national consensus codes and standards. Provide technical support to site construction forces, start-up & testing, suppliers or subcontract personnel. Prepare Data Sheets, Statements of Work, Procurement Specifications, Design Build Specifications, and Purchase Requisitions.
  • Engineering services shall be provided using SRNS processes and procedures.

  • This position is required to work on a federal facility and as such must comply with FAR 52.223-99, Ensuring Adequate COVID-19 Safety Protocols for Federal Contractors. As such this position is required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or qualify for a medical or religious accommodation to this vaccination requirement.


Qualifications

Qualifications and Experience

  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Previous SRS Design Engineering experience (Preferred)
  • Eight years recent design experience, four (4) of which shall include alarm & detection systems design
  • General knowledge of electrical/control systems, connection diagrams, layout plans, logic diagrams, panel layout details, P&ID's, and battery loading calculations
  • Candidate must possess working knowledge of National Consensus Codes and Standards applicable to fire detection and alarm systems such as, such as NFPA 70, NFPA 72, NFPA 90A, NFPA 101, IBC, and various other ISA and IEEE standards
  • Experience with 2D MicroStation Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD)
  • Ability to use Windows Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to perform field walk-downs

Licenses

  • Possessed an active DOE clearance ("L" or "Q") within the past two years
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE "L" security clearance

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited engineering curriculum, or
  • Registered Professional Engineer in Fire Protection, or
  • Full member in the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE), or NICET Level III certification in the applicable subfield
