Purpose

The Employer Relations Manager within Career Success is responsible for expanding and strengthening the university's employer ecosystem. This role drives strategic partnerships, enhances recruitment and engagement opportunities across all colleges and programs, and ensures alignment between employer needs and student career outcomes.

Responsibilities Employer Relationship Management
  • Build and manage a portfolio of employer partners seeking to hire UT students.
  • Provide strategic guidance to established employers on deepening their campus presence, strengthening recruitment pipelines, and enhancing their employer brand.
  • Lead high-level discussions with hiring managers and company leaders to secure year-round job opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Ensure employer hiring needs align with student demand.
Communications & Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Provide content and strategic insight on how to market UT talent to employers and how to improve employer communications.
  • Partner closely with Recruiting Operations, Career Services leaders, and Corporate Relations teams to enhance employer communications and engagement.
  • Analyze qualitative and quantitative hiring trends to provide insights that inform advising and employer strategy.
Recruiting Strategy
  • Advise employers on developing competitive, holistic recruiting strategies.
  • Leverage hiring trends, student preferences, and industry insights to help employers optimize recruitment timing, event participation, sponsorships, and campus branding while ensuring a student-first approach.
Business Development
  • Acquire aspirational employers (or new business units within existing employer partners) for our recruiting ecosystem.
  • Attend industry and community events to establish new partnerships.
  • Serve as a primary resource for employers navigating UT's recruitment processes, ensuring seamless connections to relevant campus resources.
Operational Efficiency & Effectiveness
  • Develop structured account management processes, timelines, and strategic employer engagement plans.
  • Lead and contribute to cross-functional initiatives, data analytics projects, and industry-specific workforce insights to enhance UT's employer engagement strategy.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and five years of experience in business development, corporate strategy, account management, consulting, or employer relations. Proven track record in developing and executing employer engagement strategies and achieving business development targets, including working with senior/executive leadership. Strong oral and written communication skills, experience with data analysis in Excel, and ability to create professional presentations (PowerPoint, Canva, etc.). High attention to detail, ability to work independently, and a proactive approach to projects. Strong understanding of job market trends, hiring, and recruiting processes. Comfortable presenting strategy to executive leadership.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

MBA or Master's degree in a related field and five years of experience in business development, employer relations, or corporate partnerships. Experience working in higher education, university recruiting, or corporate relations. Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with students, alumni, faculty, staff, and recruiters. Experience leveraging new technology and software for employer engagement. Familiarity with Canva, 12Twenty, and Smartsheet (a plus). Strong Excel skills, including proficiency with pivot tables.

Salary Range

$60,000 + depending on qualifications

Employment Eligibility:

Retirement Plan Eligibility:

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
