Position Title:Staff Accountant

Reports To:Accounting Manager

Schedule: Monday through Thursday in office and Fridays remote

Location:Fort Lauderdale, FL

Qualifications and Skills:

Experience: Minimum 2 years of accounting experience

Maritime industry experience is a plus

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

Knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards

Software:Proficiency in Excel

Prior experience with ERP systems (Workday knowledge is a plus)

Skills: Team player

Attention to detail and accuracy

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Good communication and interpersonal skills

Languages: English

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform month-end close procedures for assigned accounts/ vessels, including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations (cash, prepaid insurance, accruals for purchase orders, payroll, and other expenses, etc.).

• Review and analyze financial results on a vessel/ company level to ensure accuracy and completeness of balances/ amounts for reporting purposes.

• Work with operations to obtain explanations for significant fluctuations in actual vs. prior period and budget/ forecast.

• Assist with weekly cash flows projections.

• Participate in the budgeting and reforecasting process.

• Prepare schedules for audits and assist with audit requests.
