The Research Administration Training Specialist is responsible for developing, and implementing a university-wide, comprehensive training program addressing all aspects of sponsored project management for staff engaged in externally funded research and other sponsored activity. This role includes evaluating short and long-range goals and objectives, participating in strategic planning efforts, determining training resource needs and priorities, and making recommendations to executive leadership regarding all aspects of research administration training at Temple. This role reports directly up to the AVP, Research Administration.

Essential functions:
*Oversee the development and ongoing management of Temple's research administration training program, including ensuring the program encompasses curriculum needs for Research Administration staff, as well as campus business/research administrators.
*Identify Research Administration and campus training and education needs as Temple implements modernized software and systems related to the management of sponsored programs.
*Partner with subject matter experts to assess and identify training needs for campus stakeholders and Research Administration staff, including future or anticipated needs
*Collaborate with subject matter experts, recognize key technical concepts, and distill information into technically accurate and understandable content
*Design and prepare educational tools, materials and documentation for research administrators.
*Oversee the coordination and tracking of broader Research Administration initiatives to ensure compliance with sponsor agency requirements
*Determine appropriate medium and/or method to successfully deliver educational content to intended audience (instructor-led classroom, self-paced module, virtual session, video, written material, etc.)
*Collaborate with leadership and campus stakeholders to develop a research administrator onboarding program for new hires within Research Administration and other campus units
*Represent and serve as liaison on committees, workgroups or other meetings related to research administration training
*Conduct ongoing analysis of training and documentation needs specific to the field of research administration. Investigate emerging research administration topics and policy updates from federal or other sponsor agencies and advise leadership and OSU colleagues on recommended approach for training on these matters.
*Develop and maintain a sustainable process for regularly evaluating training methods, materials, and other documentation, including regular update of training and guidance materials at an established cadence to meet performance standards.
*Partner with subject matter experts to evaluate Temple internal policy updates affecting research administration and ensure training and program materials are updated, as needed.
*Research best practices on training topics by utilizing materials and resources from sponsoring agencies, federal guidance, and professional research administration organizations. Network with other institutions and professional organizations to help inform regular upkeep of Temple's research administration training program.
*Continually evaluate research administration training opportunities and programs available from external sources. Make recommendations to leadership on bringing external training programs, consultants, or other content providers to Temple.
*Participate in professional development offerings to grow and maintain learning and development expertise.

Required Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree, and at least five years of related research administration experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required skills and abilities:
*Demonstrated ability to utilize online financial systems.
*Demonstrated computer skills, and advanced proficiency with MS Office Suite, including advanced spreadsheet and database software skills.
*Demonstrated analytical skills, and ability to work with large financial data sets.
*Excellent communication, customer service and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to interact with a diverse constituent population.
*Demonstrated organizational and prioritization skills, along with the ability to be task- and detail-oriented.
*Strong understanding of Sponsored Projects and Research Administration.

This position will work remotely, the duration of this remote work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
