Summary
|
The Michigan Technological University Department of Humanities is seeking two Instructional Visiting Assistant Professors for the 2025-2026 academic year. These are benefits-eligible, full-time positions with a 3/3 teaching load with additional writing program-related service expectations.
The successful candidates will teach three sections of UN 1015: Composition in fall semester and three courses (including composition, with other upper-division writing-intensive course assignments to be determined) in the Spring Semester. Additional course assignments might include grant writing, advanced composition, or other communication-intensive courses that fulfill our Essential Education requirements.

Responsibilities and Essential Duties

Teaching Contribute to program development activities, such as assessment, instructor support and mentoring, curriculum updates, and resource development

Required Education, Certifications, Licensures
|
Graduate degree in Writing and Rhetoric or related field.
|
Required Experience
|
Experience teaching first-year writing.
|
Desirable Education and/or Experience
|
Experience teaching first-year writing and upper-division writing-intensive courses.
|
Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities
|
Knowledge and ability to teach first-year writing.
|
Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities
|
Prior participation in assessment, curriculum development, or writing program activities. A record of writing pedagogy-focused publication, presentation, or other professional activities.
