Our Sous Chef creates and implements desirable menus for residents and the general public. The position oversees the functionality of the kitchen, kitchen staff, food and beverage orders and prepares food for Seventeen51 Restaurant and Bistro and our Assisted Living Facility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create menus, prepare food and update recipes as needed. Create daily specials.
  • Manage inventory. Order food and beverages through contracted vendors.
  • Monitor food preparation methods, portion sizes and presentation of food to ensure that food is prepared and presented to Panorama's standards.
  • Creates, fosters and promotes a positive working environment ensuring high morale and staff retention. Supervise, train and evaluate kitchen staff. Responsible for scheduling kitchen staff to cover daily restaurant operations as well as special events.
  • Ensure that staff understand and follow standards set by the Department of Health, company and department policies and procedures. Ensure cleaning and equipment maintenance is completed and documented as required.
  • Support, communicate and assist in planning, purchasing and preparation of food services for special events.
  • Investigate complaints as appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.



REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

  • A high school degree or the equivalent is required.
  • Formal training in culinary arts is preferred.



EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum one year experience as a Sous Chef in full volume kitchen
  • Supervisory experience required
  • Experience in catering events preferred
  • Computer and administrative skills required. Experience with Microsoft Office preferred.
