About the Department:

The George Mason University Office of Sponsored Programs, part of the Office of Research Innovation and Economic Impact, invites applications for a Billing Administrator. About the Position:

The Office of Sponsored Programs works with university faculty, departments, and central offices to ensure the successful administration of externally sponsored funding. The Billing and Reporting team plays a critical role in financial management and oversight of externally sponsored funding.

Responsibilities:



  • Preparing and submitting monthly invoices for sponsored awards;
  • Assisting with preparation of monthly and quarterly receivables report;
  • Assisting in the identification of payments received by the General Accounting office;
  • Review of new awards and modifications for billing requirements and updating systems with the appropriate billing information; and
  • Assisting with other billing, reporting, and closeout tasks as needed.


Required Qualifications:



  • Finance and accounting experience;
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and understanding of financial compliance requirements;
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask and work independently; and
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and successfully complete a criminal background check as required by federal law.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience in a team environment and/or university setting is highly desirable.
