Duties And Responsibilities

To carry out industrial insulation and sheet metal (cladding) work on live Oil & Gas assets on-site and in workshop settings. This role includes mentoring PNG national trainees in technical skills and safe work practices to support nationalisation goals.

Functions:

  • Perform insulation and sheet metal cladding installation, removal, and repair on piping, vessels, and structural components.
  • Interpret technical drawings to fabricate and install custom insulation jackets and cladding components.
  • Carry out workshop-based fabrication tasks using appropriate tools and machinery.
  • Ensure all work complies with quality and safety standards.
  • Act as a scribe/trade assistant during Rope Access NDT operations as required.
  • Support the upskilling of PNG nationals by demonstrating safe work practices and guiding practical learning.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of materials used and job progress.
  • Conduct self-checks and participate in QA/QC procedures.

Ensure that the Safety policies and procedures are understood and adhered to so far as is reasonably practicable in order to ensure a safe working environment.

Other
Carry out work in accordance with the Company Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Systems.
Perform the assigned tasks with due diligence regarding the Integrated Management Systems on the Company.
Eliminate waste of whatever form, to suggest the use of more environmentally friendly substances and practices and contribute to the continuous improvement of the environment.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position has NO direct supervisory responsibilities.

  • Project Manager
  • Rope Access Manager (in direct) Service Excellence Manager (indirect)
  • Client Supervisors and Managers (as required)

Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in sheet metal and insulation work, including workshop fabrication.
  • Proven experience on live Oil & Gas assets
  • IRATA Level 1 or 2 preferred (must be valid prior to mobilisation).
  • Experience working with Rockwool, calcium silicate, GRP jacketing, and aluminium cladding.
  • Understanding of safe work systems and permit-to-work procedures.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and team members.
  • Proven ability to read and write risk assessments and method statements in a clear and concise manner
  • Demonstrated ability to solve practical and technical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardisation exists.
  • Proven ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram and/or schedule form.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan production for project execution.
  • Ability to establish and maintain project priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organise and direct the work of others.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good Client support and contractor relationships at various levels of seniority or diverse cultures.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, financial reporting and business planning and practices (desirable)
  • Ability to recognise personal limitations and request assistance when necessary.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team with a flexible approach with excellent interpersonal skills.
