Description

POSITION SUMMARY Peer Support services are peer-delivered services with emphasis on rehabilitation and recovery. Services are intended to support skills for coping with and managing behavioral health symptoms while utilizing natural resources. Peer services are provided to assist one in developing recovery-oriented principles.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist Manager to plan, develop and implement Gateway's Peer Services.
- Participate in the Peer trainings and other relevant trainings.
- Participate in treatment team meetings, upon individual and practitioner request, for the purpose of facilitating Peer services.
- Provide Peer services, as needed.
- Provide linkage and referral facilitation for services, resources, and tools on behalf of Peer service recipients to support them in achieving their goals.
- Prepare and maintain records of individual progress and services performed, reporting changes in the electronic health record.
- Abide by HIPAA laws, regulations, and related agency's policies and procedures.
- Maintain communication and relationships with individuals, outside agencies, and other service providers.
- Ensure the achievement of program objectives and contract expectations.
- Represent the agency's peer services on community committees.
- Keep abreast of trends, changes, and new developments in the field through professional affiliations, community involvement, conferences, and trainings.
- Complete quality documentation.
- Follow compliance policies and procedures for Peer Services, ensuring that case records are up to date and in compliance.
- Participate in training programs for professional growth as scheduled and approved.
- Maintain a work environment in a clean, organized and safe manner.
- Responsible for understanding and adhering to Gateway's Corporate Compliance Policy and Standards of Conduct. Will keep abreast of all pertinent federal, state and Gateway Community Industries regulations, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified. Insure that staff is knowledgeable of all applicable regulations, laws and policies. Ensure all accidents are promptly reported to Human Resources.
Health, Safety, & Compliance
- Maintain a work environment in a clean, organized, and safe manner. Conduct daily inspections of work areas to look for unsafe conditions
- Use all required safety devices and personal protective equipment.
- Actively participate in health and safety practices and accident prevention
- Ensure all accidents are reported to supervisor and Human Resources.
- Be familiar with the Health & Safety Program and abide by all safety and health rules, work practices, and regulations.
Agency Standards
- Demonstrate positive work attitudes and habits.
- Maintain a clean and neat appearance consistent with agency standards and act as a role model
- Attend all required meetings and trainings
- Participate in training programs for professional growth as scheduled and approved
- Responsible for understanding and adhering to Gateway Hudson Valley's Corporate Compliance Policy and Standards of Conduct as well as all applicable program rules, regulations and policies. Keep abreast of any changes or modifications to policies or regulations. Ensure that all staff are knowledgeable of applicable regulations, laws, and policies
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education:
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- NYS Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA)
- Prior experience working or volunteering as a certified peer specialist or advocate
- Experience working with person with co-occurring disorders/illness
- Familiarity with Home and Community Based Services
- Knowledge of mental and substance use disorders and resources available in the community
WORKING CONDITIONS

- The employee frequently is required to stand and walk. This position may require the employee to bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, or climb. The position requires frequent lifting up to 20 pounds.
REGULATORY CLEARANCES REQUIRED
- Must have a valid NYS Driver's License and maintain a driving record which meets the insurable criteria of the Agency's automobile insurance carrier
- Driver's License Abstract
- Must have a favorable result from all state, federal, and agency mandated background checks
- New York State Justice Center Fingerprinting Criminal Background Check
- OPWDD and/or OMH (depending on worksite) MHL Abuse/Neglect History Check
- Statewide Central Registry Check
