Linehaul Specialist I-III

Oversee, monitor, and track the management of all transportation modes within the FedEx Linehaul Network to optimize service and minimize costs.

Essential Functions

  • Supports field management to understand network plans and adjustments to make informed decisions.
  • Implements and monitors process improvements, new information systems and/or enhancements.
  • Adheres to master LH schedules to ensure service integrity for specific areas.
  • Monitors and tracks hub and station planned moves to ensure sufficient coverage for FedEx.
  • Interacts daily with field LH operations to ensure adherence to dispatch rules utilizing necessary transportation modes.
  • Communicates purchased transportation setup, shipment updates, cancellation of shipments, and issues at rail yard to stakeholders.
  • Monitors carrier activities ensuring shipments are picked up, in-gated correctly at the rail yard and delivered to final destination in accordance with rail cutoff times and customer delivery requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Education

High School diploma or GED.

Minimum Experience

One (1) year experience required in linehaul operations, logistics, transportation industry, or related area.Bachelors degree in Business Management, Logistics, or related field may be considered in lieu of experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Software skills, including use of Microsoft Office software and web-based applications. Knowledge of concepts, practices, policies and procedures used in field operations. Presentation skills necessary to facilitate training and/or deliver informational sessions to groups and/or individuals. Ability to effectively provide instruction on process and practice within the department. Time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills necessary to work in a fast-paced environment, handling various tasks and changing priorities, while maintaining a high attention to detail and accuracy to achieve daily assignments and goals. Ability to anticipate and identify problems and use sound judgment and fact-based analysis to develop effective and efficient solutions. Ability to analyze, review, and make recommendations. Ability to troubleshoot issue, draw resources, and develop solutions.

Job Conditions

Minimal travel required.

Preferred Qualifications: The Intermodal Team operates 24/7, 365 days a year including holidays and weekends. The role is very dependent on team collaboration, with each other, field offices, PGH transportation, other FedEx Opco's and railroads. Experience using TMS is a must. Experience with Power BI is preferred. Flexibility is required on scheduled days or hours to meet the needs of operations. This position is currently slated to work overnights and weekends.

Pay Transparency: This compensation range is provided as a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary range for this role across all potential locations. If this opportunity includes multiple job levels, the range is a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary for the lowest level to the current starting salary of the highest level. Actual starting pay would be determined by experience relative to the job, market level, pay at the location for this job and other job-related factors permitted by law. An employee may be eligible for additional pay, premiums, or bonus potential. The Company offers eligible employees health, vision and dental insurance, retirement, and tuition reimbursement.

Pay: (FEC_SH25) to (FEC_SH27) Pittsburgh, PA Pay Range: $22.25/hour - $42.37/hour

Additional Details: The selected candidate will join the Intermodal team and must be domiciled in Pittsburgh, PA.
