As a Director of National Accounts at Ryerson, you will be responsible for establishing relationships at all levels, including influence/decision-maker within these large accounts, in order to share our product and process offerings and generate opportunities to quote their annual metals package.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Identify large potential multi-location customers in consumer industries that cross Ryerson business units
  • Qualify accounts that have been identified as high-potential targets
  • Identify main stakeholder's opportunities for Ryerson to provide value and create solid strategies for growth
  • Significant travel required to the customer's HQ location as well as manufacturing facilities across the country
  • Coordinate all aspects of the quote process, from generating the opportunity, working with product management, establishing price levels, gaining executive approvals, and finalizing the quote details and submittal
  • Work with the legal department and the customer to review and negotiate the documents required to manage the contract
  • Manage customer relationships and work diligently for organic growth from the account base
  • Present all VAVE and cost-down initiatives to the customer, including but not limited to our scrap and hedging programs, product management and RAP expertise, and technical resources as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • 7+ years of industry experience, including sales and a minimum of 5 years in outside sales
  • Must have deep knowledge of both stainless steel and aluminum; working knowledge of carbon steel and value-added service offerings
  • Experience gaining and managing major accounts as well as having a comfort level of meeting with all levels within an organization, including senior executives
  • Must possess strong initiative as well as strategic thinking, teamwork, multi-tasking, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize assignments and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word experience required
  • Excellent presentation skills are a must; building consensus within the organization to work toward a common goal
  • Willingness to travel a minimum of 60%
